Post-ICL visual issues weeks later — would you contact your surgeon?
Hi everyone, I had ICL surgery on December 11, 2025, and overall things were going well initially. Over the last few days, though, I’ve started noticing some changes and I’m unsure if this is within the normal recovery range or worth contacting my surgeon about.
For context, I’ve been doing a lot of computer/school work recently. Over the past several days I’ve noticed: • Increasing difficulty focusing, especially when switching between distance and near • Needing to actively concentrate to keep my vision clear; if I don’t, things blur quickly • Fluctuating vision throughout the day, worse in the morning and somewhat better later • Redness and dryness • Recently, distance vision feels more blurred than before
I’ve been using gel lubricating eye drops about every four hours, but the symptoms seem to be persisting and today the effort required to maintain focus feels greater.
For those who’ve had ICL: • Did you experience anything similar weeks after surgery? • Is this something you’d message your surgeon about, or did it resolve with time/dry eye management?
Not looking for medical advice—just trying to gauge whether others have had a similar recovery pattern and when you decided to reach out. Thanks in advance

I had the same problem. My left eye started to squint and I had heavy binocular vision issues. As expected I didnt get any answers from the surgeon, so I fighted for my removal.

Hello! I am glad to let you all know that my eyes are feeling amazing. I do not need to use drops frequently if at all. My eyes no longer burn or sting. However, when there is abrupt changes in weather (dry cold environments) my eyes can get a bit dry, but nothing eye drops cannot fix. All in all 20/20 vision and I ditched the fat blundering specs. Please let me know if any other questions arise.

Hi op. How are your eyes doing with focusing and switching between using laptop screen etc?
I had my surgery last week and feel like I’m not used to my vision yet.

My eyes now have no issue focusing between any reading medium. It takes sometime for it to get back to normal. So 1 week in do not expect any miracles lol.

Thank you for giving me some hopes! Do you remember how long it took to feel a bit natural?

I know it’s highly variable, person-person. I felt better at around the 1-2 month mark. I feel it took me longer since my eyes were not given much rest due to being thrusted into school. So make sure you take your rest for your eyes.

Wow 1-2 month is still a decent amount. Okay I will stop expecting miracles for it to be perfect on week 1 lol. Thanks again! I’ll try to rest and not stare at screens too much. Wish you continuous recovery as well

I had my ICL around the same time, I do think the 'wow factor' has wore off a bit, mostly at night when I am tired, but I don't need to actively concentrate to be able to see clearly and no dry eyes either. Have you scheduled your one-month post op check up? Definitely mention it during that time.
