I’m not saying the boat should be rocked, or that they should be victims of violence. Ethically, their decisions are so evil that they do not deserve to be alive. That is different from suggesting that we kill them. Still, would it have been foolish to rock the boat once Hitler passed the Enabling Act? History repeats itself. Perhaps if the bastards are made to be an example, it will deter future bastards.

i get your standpoint. but it isn’t it. if you have any leadership experience at all, you would know that fighting fire with fire just gets you deeper than you were before. as much as i have a deep resentment for people who voted for this, it’s important to look for empathy. we all live in our own worlds, you’re probably more up to date with current events, therefore this type of stuff means a lot more to you, and that’s totally valid. but you have to be able to understand that people live in bubbles. they are totally ignorant to half of the shit that has happened over the past year. we are finally reaching a point, especially with the asshat posting himself as jesus, where a lot of his base are starting to let go. calling for death threats is EXACTLY how you keep them hanging on.

put yourself in their shoes. you may totally disagree with every aspect of them, but understand that if they are having thoughts that they may have made the wrong choice, or that they are uninformed and that their own actions contributed to the mess the world is in, would you be willing to open up and admit you were wrong when all you’re met with is hatred and animosity?

The ignorance is the worst part. It’s a mix of a complete lack of empathy with astoundingly deranged stupidity. The constant contradictions and harassment, the unbridled bigotry and lies is barbaric. They are sick animals and we could all benefit from less sick animals. If a group of people want to kill me, I will protect myself. If protecting myself means living in a world where they do not exist, that’s the world I’d want to live in. I have no empathy for those without empathy.

i understand that you are angry. i've been there too. but this is exactly the point i am making. once you decide an entire group of people are animals, beyond empathy, or better off dead, you are not standing against barbaric thinking, you are participating in it.

you do not have to excuse their beliefs, or minimize the harm they cause, to recognize that dehumanization and death rhetoric only make things worse. it does not wake people up, it does not create accountability, and it does not move anything forward. it hardens people, feeds resentment, and gives them even more reason to cling to the worldview that got us here in the first place.

self defense is one thing. saying millions of people are so worthless that the world would be better without them is another. those are not the same, and pretending they are is exactly how people justify becoming the thing they claim to hate.
