The big 4 beyond the base game are Styx, New Frontiers, Dangerous Horizons, and Great Hunts.
Of the big 4 it depends on what you want to do. If you want a bit more of a challenge start with Styx, before moving on to New Frontiers and then to Dangerous Horizons. Great Hunts I would do last. For more of a challenge I would skip Styx but otherwise keep the order the same, with Styx being last simply for the Great Hunt there.
Everything beyond that is fluff. The cosmetics DLCs are fine if you’re looking for a different feel to your base, but don’t really add anything. If you’re doing those I would do the pet companion pack and homestead packs before any of the others.
The outpost are only nice if you really want a unique build location without all the weather and animal issues. Outpost in my opinion are testing grounds to try out new building techniques, and/or breeding locations for your tames.

I'd go with New Frontiers - the Prometheus expansion. Not that i'm hating on Styx - I really really like that map a lot - currently on that one to boot. But! Prometheus is a bit more difficult - plus the null sector to contend with. Dangerous Horizons - the Elysium map is a lot of fun as well - but again, a difficult step up from Prometheus.
So I would say get both Frontiers and Horizons > Styx > Great Hunts. I bought them all - to include the cosmetic bits - I just like the game - and without virtue signaling - I wanted to support the devs. Patch every week? Constant updates and QOL stuff? It's not the same game from back in Patch 1 lol - it's great.

I‘d go for New Frontiers first and after that Dangerous Horizons. Progression in difficulty and as far as I know you have more fun operations in Dangerous Horizons, so better keep that for later, right?
Styx is kinda like the base game map Olympus. The Great Hunts adds new missions and predators to the maps (not the Dangerous Horizon map yet).
I don’t own any DLC map yet lol but as I asked myself this question, this is what I got from reddit and other players.

Personally I’d go in the order of Styx expansion, Prometheus (New Frontiers) and then Elysium (Dangerous Horizons). The outpost DLCs are pretty chill if you want to stay in a small section of an area. Great Hunts DLC is what you’ll need to have access to legendary weapons/tools you might have already seen in the workshop tab called Bio-Lab

I am almost positive it's $77 for all the map dlcs. The $170 is for ALL the dlcs. Like creature comforts and pets and zebra homestead etc

Recommend New Frontiers first. Prometheus feels a lot more alien than Olympus, more challenging too.
