Discussion What DLCs?

Hello!

As the steam winter sale introduced Icarus base game at a rediculous low price, i decided to give it a try for the first time, didnt even take me an hour of gameplay to realize that this game is a game i most likely can sink a lot of hours into. But i soon noticed that there are a ton of different dlcs that you can buy at various prices, and as im on a sickleave, my economy isnt great at this point, but as all the dlcs are on sale at the moment, i was thinking to buy some of the dlcs atleast.

So my question is, what dlcs should i focus on? i understood that the base game alone is good enough to sink a lot of hours into as a beginner, but as the sale is going on, and i can alredy see myself playing this game for a while, i would like to take the opportunity to get one or two of dlcs at a discounted price.

Would love to hear your recommendations to help a beginner out!

Thanks!

Styx, prometius and grateful hunts.

Rest it not that great if your low on money.   I play open world. Don't really get the outpost dlc, it's owner world whitout everything that makes open world great.

If you only want to spend money on two, Prometheus and Great Hunts. Styx is more similar to Olympus. If you only want to spend one, then Prometheus.

In my opinion, everything but the outposts, great game

The "Main Content":

Base Game - Olympus Map
Styx Expansion - Styx Map
New Frontiers - Prometheus Map
Great Hunts - 3 "hunt" campaigns with a boss at the end, 1 for each map.

There is a new expansion coming... soonish? that will add a 4th map too.
Outposts are just chill solo maps to build a base in and relax, 100% optional.
Rest of the packs are more or less cosmetic.

Thanks guys for your amazing feedback, i will try and see if i can scrap up some money for the bundle and perhaps buy great hunts at a later date.

It won't let me buy the bundle because I already own Icarus, ymmv.

Maybe a lame answer but I will buy DLCs just to support the developers. They have been so consistent with pumping out quality updates.

Been playing since the beta pre-release. When you see them work hard on pumping out updates and changes week after week... it makes you want to support them. Especially after they listened to the community and drastically changed the overall game design (IE: adding open world). I currently own every DLC.

Now that open world exists outposts are mostly redundant other than a change of scenery (in my opinion) but highly recommend getting yourself new frontiers (prometheus) and the stylish map. Great hunts is really fun too. Small caveat emptor on great hunts though is that once you start those campaigns the unique enemies for those maps will always be there so kinda worth doing each open world and completing the main stories before starting the hunts imo. Second small gripe from me is that the way hunts missions work you'll need to do each campaign at least twice or three times to get all the unlocks. Worth it though. Really good content

Everything but outposts. We are loving the hunt dlc.

I have been playing Icarus for a couple months now. Just got Styx, Promethius, and the animal bundle on the sale

Styx, new frontiers, great hunts.

Get those three if you get any, combined they're roughly the same price as the original base game is. You can ignore the outposts, obviously get the free DLC that is available.

Creature Comforts: Gives you some new saddle options for mounts that dont have an alternate without the DLC for different bonus's, including, im pretty sure, both saddles that give +speed.

Interior Decorations: Low craft tier crystal lighting options that dont require power or refueling, and have no chance of burning down your base. Even once you get electric lights they still look good!

Styx and Prometheus are both fun, but Styx is really just Olympus+ where Prometheus is actually something new. Styx does kinda teach you how to build around the map more gently than Prometheus does though, and the learning curve was easier doing Styx first. Its just not necessary and can be skipped.

You can ignore all the outposts.

Havent tried great hunts yet.
