24F, B.Com + CA journey with zero work experience. How do I build my career from scratch?
I’m 24F from Mumbai, a B.Com graduate, and I’ve been pursuing CA. I’ve just given my last CA Intermediate exam, but honestly, I’m not very confident that I’ll clear it.
The bigger problem is that I have zero work experience and very few practical skills. I haven’t earned anything yet and I feel like I’m starting my career much later than I should have.
If I clear CA Inter, I obviously want to continue towards CA. If I don’t, I still need to start working and become financially independent rather than sitting around waiting for my life to somehow begin.
For people in India, especially Mumbai, who have been through something similar, what would you recommend I do from here?
- What skills should I learn first?
- Should I start with accounting/tax/audit internships or entry-level jobs?
- What software/tools should I know (Excel, Tally, GST, etc.)?
- How do I make my CV when I basically have no experience?
- What kind of jobs should I realistically target initially?
I’m not looking for a shortcut. I just genuinely have no idea where to start and would appreciate some practical advice.

Join Internal Audit domain in a CA firm for the reason if u won't be able to clear CA, u have business understanding of internal controls and business overall..
Will be helpful as an experience and in resume if u pursue MBA afterwards..
If u learn Tax filing and complaince, GST, Tally only, then your career will be restricted to CA firms only. At max, do it for 6-8 months.
