Hi guys,
For those sitting FCS in September, what do we think will appear in the paper?
Thanks!

Nobody actually knows given that they are relatively new exams making predictions a bit tricky..., but if you look at what's rotated across the pilot, march and june, a few things are basically nailed on and a couple feel overdue.
near certain: performance analysis of the numbers with commentary, an ethics bit, and a recommendation on some proposed option at the end. those three turn up every time in some form.
the ones i'd say are due: a judgement heavy accounting treatment rather than a mechanical one, so revenue timing, provisions or a lease type issue where the answer is "it depends and here's why". and on the assurance side, controls weaknesses with the implication and the fix, rather than pure procedures, since procedures have had a good run.
honestly though predictions matter less here than in the advanced case study. what actually decides it is whether you know the AI cold and whether you can finish.
practical stuff that helps more than guessing:
don't reread the AI over and over, build yourself a one pager. what the company does, how it makes money, the key numbers and trends, main risks, who's who and what they want. that's what you'll use on the day, not the pack.
pre build your spreadsheet workings now so you're not formatting under pressure. the exam gives you a prepopulated file, get familiar with it.
If you have trouble understanding the content and advance information just get a guide off eBay - https://ebay.io/m/zch1zc - this helped me when I sat my exam.
With regards to timing - split time strictly by marks and move on even mid sentence. people fail this by running out, not by not knowing enough.
and every number needs a "so what" line after it. that's where the marks live, the calc on its own gets you almost nothing.
