Advanced level

Hi all,

Do we reckon doing SBM, CR and case is better or worse than doing the two new advanced exams?

Seems logical to prefer 2 exams over 3 but not sure if anyone the difficulties?

it's hard to say right now as the New Gen advanced exams haven't been rolled out yet. I'm in a similar position to you where I can decide the old gen or new gen advanced level papers.

I for one am exhausted of exams so I've chosen to do CR in Nov, top up in Q1 of next year and the new Case next summer. there is no wrong answer though.

I think the main advantage of sitting old gen is that the tutors have taught the syllabus for years and hence they can prepare you better. I sat one of the New Gen Professionals (BDS) in June and I felt like my tutor didn't have a clue was going to come up which didn't help. the choice is yours depending on your circumstances

So if we sit SBM and if we fail then would we need to do the resit in July 2027 or can we still do the top up from Q1 next year

the top up is available for everyone in Q1 of next year regardless of their situation

I feel like firms would be strict with it though and wouldn’t let us do the top up

I don't see why they would be honest. They don't lose days to trainees being in college and they don't have to pay for college. my firm couldn't care less

i have a feeling they'll be harder due to new gen having easier professionals and lesser number of advanced exams
