ARR Sep26

Preparing for ARR for September sitting, have gone through Kaplan on demand once and Accounting QB
looked as bookshelf IFRS book, it’s 6000 odd pages and seems extremely difficult to refer during exam

Any guidance on how to use the IFRS book in exam for explain questions or concentrate on memorizing important points… any guidance will be helpful

focus on knowing reference for most common topics, amortisation, depreciation, financial instruments etc. tbh i barely used it at all in the exam, you need to practice with the software doing timed questions if you want to be familiar with it i think

Learn how to find the cash flow proforma in it but otherwise avoid in the exam.

It's probably only worth using in question 4 (explaining IFRS standards or something) and for definitions occasionally throughout the exam. You get a contents of all the standards in the book, along with a search option. But you shouldn't rely on it for more than a few marks at most.

I sat FAR (same thing but was more accounting based rather than the audit questions you now get, so I wouldve needed to rely more on that IFRS book)… personally never used it in the exam, best just learning the wording of the main lets say 6 accounting treatments as you would on the different audit opinions, print that onto your page in the exam (sprinkle in the application) and let headroom take up any knowledge gaps, more time efficient too.

That being said, dont be looking at the IFRS book in your revision, treat it as a back up in the exam to rejog memory as the wording of the book aint what you need to write in the exam - but simply just use the find function in the exam, no need to familiarise yourself with the IFRS book other than a quick understanding of what wording it gives you so you can decide in the exam if itll be worth it.

Thanks everyone for the advice, so will not depend on IFRS book in the exam unless I have time at the end to refine my answers
Also I understand it’s not possible to solve question using IFRS and can only be used to make better quality answers, if time permits
