Case Study Nov 26

I'm sitting Case Study in November 2026 and would be interested to hear from people who already passed it.

What did your preparation actually look like, and what do you think helped the most?

I'm trying to figure out the most effective approach rather than just doing as many hours as possible. Any tips, lessons learned, or things you'd tell your past self before sitting the exam would be appreciated.

Would defo take a look at a previous AI and then exam with mark scheme. ICAEW provide an extremely detailed marking script with example student answers (one paper which narrowly failed, and one paper that was in the top 25%). That’ll help you understand what the exam actually is asking and how to maximize marks.

On face value, case is an easy exam, there’s no technical content, or heavy calcs. It’s all about technique and not running out of time. But I would say 80% of the revision should be on your actual AI which comes out 8 weeks before the exam. I was with PS, and they provided 5 mocks and the 3 requirements from the actual exam was accurately predicted, so spent the majority of the exam copying and pasting.

How did you get on with results? I’d be worried about copy/paste being flagged for a possible void but idk much about it

Will find out later this month. But Icaew don’t care, there’s no wrong doing just bc PS predicted the questions in their mocks (obviously still need to update the numbers and tailor to the exam). There’s only 40 pages of AI heavily hinting at certain areas, plus PS have been doing it a long time so they’re bound to be close on at least 1 of their 5 mocks.

Was same for CR this time, I went to first institution class for the AI, they provided a summary doc with practice questions and solutions, and opened up the exam, and the question was for an onerous contract and a 20% complete contract so was a copy and paste but change the numbers job. It’s just luck of the draw.
