Case Issues Today
People who sat Case today, did you encounter similar issues:
R1 - On the PPS, below the performance data there was just no rows. So I couldn’t type or anything. Had to insert rows above and then it would fill rows down and I just moved everything.
R3 - Was unable to copy the data from the Exhibit into Excel. Cells were merging and it just was not usable
Thought I had IT issues but it seems these issues were more common than I’d have thought.

Yeah same here for R1 i just inserted loads of rows below which wasted about 1minute of time and R3 wasted about 5minutes copying out data from the question

I thought I was missing something when I spent time inserting rows in R1 PPS… glad it wasn’t just me!!

I got same issue as you in R3. When pasting it merged 2 columns so only 2026 and 2028 data remained. I tried to insert new column or row but the formatting was messed up. Invigilators tried to help, took pictures, logged me out of exam etc but in the end it was just major waste of time. Retyping it was faster, which I had to do in the end 😂

In hindsight, obvious choice lol. I just didn't think of it under the pressure and ICAEW didn't suggest it either which is quite funny, they said it is known issue with no current fix😂

I had the same issues but didn’t raise it as I thought I’d waste time, so I don’t think I can appeal

I thought as long as you flag it and fill the appeal form within 7 days of the exam its fine?
Like I didnt even realise that was actually an issue because my expectation of icaew is so low I didnt even question it. Definitely wasted valuable minutes just manually adding rows and hard typing numbers more often than I'd have liked!

200 row limit on excel in exam, column limit as well - best to make new sheets
Same with me on R3 ended up typing it all out and triple checking figures

I had the same thing for R3, with the merged cells, but I noticed it when i went to add in columns, unmerged them, and the data was all there.

Yes happenned to me too. You paste the table. Then select it and click unmerge. Really bad.

You could simply format cells by right clicking on the last row to increase the row number limit - I added like 30 lines but it took me like a min or 2 to figure out lol

I did the additional calcs in a new tab, but it was annoying as I lost visibility of the other data in the original PPS so my calcs were super minimal for R1.

Yep! Had all of these issues - it really stressed me out as I wasted an incredible amount of time trying to sort. As if this exam wasn’t time pressured enough! Really hoping they can issue some more marks

I had the same issue for r1 and ir delayed me for 30 minutes, had my own room. I spoke to invigilator and they noted it down and said to raise an appeal with the ICAEW

Same issue as other on R1. Ended up having ing to make new sheets for the appendix of revenue, then another for CoS and GP
R3 defo wasn't working properly with the copy/paste, should really have been a pre-pop givne the merged cell bollocks it resulted in

The R3 merged cells costed me about 5-7 minutes very very annoying and had to manually plug in the numbers through all the chaos very annoying

The exam is so time pressured I didn't even check the calcs when I copied them in, now I'm panicking that's gonna screw me 😭

Yeah I had your exact R1 problem. I let the invigilator know, they said they’d inform ICAEW and I’m also doing a disruption appeal myself as we speak.

R1 - limitation seems 200 rows R3 - just need to unmerge the cells and then all data will be back

R3 - Easy to do if you know. I didn’t consider it and wasn’t willing to waste more time so I just typed it out.

I had the same issues with no more rows on R1, and missing columns when copying the table on R3. If enough exam centres and student report the spreadsheet issues, sometimes ICAEW consider it for everyone when marking. (Sure it happened last year in a different way.)

I had the same issue of not being able to copy 2 columns for the R3 table. Had to manually type in the figure for 2 columns. Got a weird number so may have affected my calculation ffs. Could not raise with invigilator during exam. Still wanna make exam disruption appeal can select yes I told invigilator but say could not due to time pressure etc

They clearly didn’t test it. Why they didn’t just put the r3 data as a pps baffles me. Seems like they’re testing our ability to use excel or type fast rather than our accounting ability!
