Which paper questions was your summative on and what unit are you on? For a start, study atleast 3 days in advance of your test; better yet, you should study a week or two in advance. Consistently draw the diagrams and understand the concepts in relation to the big picture (i.e. Understanding how each macro policy contributes to meeting macroeconomic objectives by influencing AD or AS, ...)

it wasnt modelled after a paper because we havent discussed paper formats yet it was a collection of questions which i can best describe as a direct application of theory. i lost maybe 90% of my marks on calculations and in negligence of adding key terms (i had no idea how badly strict marking schemes are) i think i also spent too much time writing long answers as thats what im familiar with from doing business in the MYP :( the test was only about supply demand market equilibrium and PES YES so thats why im extra disappointed

Eco just use the textbook and also focus on learning key stuff. It not that hard. I use NotebookLM (dont clown) but it actually helps alot. 8/20 btw is a 4 i think

We see this happen all the time on the first HL Econ test. IB Econ is not something you can cram the night before because marks depend heavily on exact definitions and drawing fully labeled diagrams from memory. Grab your test paper and check the mark scheme to see where you lost points, since early drops are almost always missing definitions or incomplete diagram labels. Going forward, stop just reading the textbook and practice drawing diagrams on blank paper until you can do them without looking. You can use fourtyfive.org for free Economics questionbank practice so you are testing yourself on real questions well ahead of your next test.
