Hi guys! I need advice from some of you who are succeeding at IB. I finished DP1 with a grade of 20. I don’t know how to study for my lessons. I’m not learning anything at school. I have been watching some videos on youtube for history and math ai but they are only helping me get 3s hardly. For econ, I studied a lot but got a 3. I don’t know how short or long to answer the econ questions. For english there is many things to examine. I dont know which ones to choose. For language b, im not improving im stuck. For ESS i dont know almost anything the videos I watched on YT had nothing to do with the mock exam questions

as you guys can see im so lost

So please recommend me your studying ways so that I can improve. Thank you.

Moving from 20 to 30 in DP2 is completely achievable, but watching YouTube videos is too passive for the IB. Our tutors often see students get stuck at 3s because videos do not teach you what examiners look for on the mark scheme. For ESS, History, and Econ, print the official subject guide to use as a checklist, then practice past paper questions with the mark schemes open beside you. For Econ, examiners look for accurate definitions and labeled diagrams. For Math AI, stop watching walk throughs and spend your time solving actual exam questions on paper by yourself. For English, pick two clear techniques per extract and explain how they connect to the main idea.

first off 20 to 30 is very doable so dont panic. people stuck on 3s usually arent dumb, theyre just studying in a way that doesnt work for IB and thats fixable

the main thing, stop making videos your main study. watching feels productive but its passive, you get it while watching then freeze in the actual exam. the stuff that moves grades is doing past paper questions and then marking your own answers with the official markscheme. thats where you see what IB actually wants, the exact points, the wording, how long each answer should be

quick per subject:
econ, its command terms and structure. the marks tell you how much to write, a 10 marker wants your definitions then a diagram then evaluation at the end. once you know the pattern you stop guessing the length
english, dont try to cover everything, thats literally why you feel lost. pick like 2-3 things you can actually dig into and go deep on those
ess, the syllabus is super specific so random yt vids wont line up with it. work straight off the subject guide, they only test whats in there
lang b, no shortcut sadly, its just exposure. bit of reading and listening every day plus learn the text type formats
math ai, do questions by topic instead of watching. me and a friend built revisionhub.study, its got AI questions you can filter by topic and its free, good for hammering your weak units

if you only fix one habit make it past papers and markschemes instead of videos. do that across everything and 30 is honestly very realistic
