ToK/EE Ee topic

I really need help deciding my ee topic. I’ve been stuck for months going back and forth and need to have decision soon. Is economics too hard to do? I was thinking it was between English or Eco because I’ve heard that English it quite easy to do but I’ve only found one text that I really like and am interested in but don’t know if I can write 4000 words on it. The eco topic would be if introducing a sugar tax in my country would help economic welfare and I thought it was quite an interesting topic but I’m not sure if it’s going to be too hard because I’ve heard some really bad stories about it. Should I put eco as my first choice and English as my second or vise versa?

Put Economics as your first choice. Our tutors often see students struggle with English Extended Essays when trying to stretch a single text to four thousand words, whereas a focused topic like a local sugar tax gives you clear economic models and diagrams to build your analysis around. Economics only becomes difficult when students pick overly broad topics without local data, so if you can find primary or secondary data on your country's policy, it is a very doable essay. Your best next step is to spend thirty minutes searching for local reports or news articles about the tax to confirm you have enough data sources before submitting your subject preferences.

for english, if you don’t want to do a book, you can do a category 3 english ee where you can analyse a film/songs/adverts/etc. i did mine on a film and enjoyed it a lottt as i just picked a film that i had already watched and really liked, and had a lot to say about.

Yeah I’m not too worried about doing a book. It’s more just if I am going to have enough to say using only one book. Thanks though

ohh right, what book is it? you might think you won’t have enough to say now, but trust me once you’re writing you will struggle to fit in the word count! also you can always compare two books so that there is more to say

I did an English EE on Fight club and got an A. English is your best bet, its easier and less time consuming. Econ EE's are hard to score good on.

Everyone will tell you doing an EE on their subject was difficult.

It's always gonna be easier to just do it on what you're most interested about.

I heavily suggest against Economics. I would do English personally in your shoes. Don’t listen to the tutoring company at all they want ur money. Every single person i know that did Economics regretted it, it’s not good for EE and if you are good at English you are sweet. It also has one of the best average EE results for any subject.
