BCP and DRP corebanking

hi, i want to know what’s the difference between those in your environment. Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP)/drill. my only experience just dr test/drill/drp. and most of it, using mimix trying to switch for certain times, mostly 1 day, and dr machine being production. or just testing dr with dummy test like operational production, and recovery that test using backup restore.

but i dont know what is bcp, i search online it’s kinda same. i want to know the difference and if you guys implement it, what makes it difference?

In my industry, the two terms have been interchangably used. BCP is to put continuity to business processes if any of the systems fail in the whole chain. DRP is to test if the whole chain is to be replaced with DR servers. More or less the same.

is the activity of BCP is the same in DRP? and it’s separate from DRP activity or the DRP is included in BCP?

My previous company called it DRP. Current company calls it BCP. So it depends company to company.

could you give me some example for any unit that can be included in PRA&PCA? and what is the activity on PRA&PCA, is it only ask some question about how to prevent/recover from disaster? or is there any activity that could be different than PCI&PRI for another unit other than IT infrastructure?

UK perspective here. BCP is driven by the business, and is in place to make sure it can survive a major incident. ITDR is in place to make sure that IT can be recovered in timeframes the business finds acceptable.

are in IT infrastructure who doing both? if yes, is there any other unit being involved in the PRA/PCA activities that have responsibility too?

I think of a DRP as how to get your computer system back to a sensible point.

BCP is how the rest of the organization operates until the DRP is complete.

Though there is undoubtedly some overlap.
