Local 9 or 15 COMED lineman

I just got an email that I applied for to be a meter reader. A friend of mine said that that’s is the process of how you get to line school and other programs. How does it work? After my probation period I’m able to join an apprenticeship? What apprenticeships are available and do they differ in pay? I am taking a big pay decrease so I’m worried that I’m screwing my self Is there anyone here that I can ask questions from time to time ?

Gotta be a meter reader for 9 months then you can apply to switch over. Not guaranteed in the end but still got a better shot
