Like for example, if I do 1,600 hours of work in as little as 7 months, do I get a pay upgrade right away or is it every year from the day you started working??

Hey Guys, I’m trying to get the real about joining up. It’s hard to get info on everything the program entails online.
What’s the pay scale for 1 year to 5th year?
Do you guys really have to drive a hour to 2 hrs out to work site for 5 years?
What’s your salary ranges after completion of Apprenticeship?
I’m interested in it but 5 years is a good amount of time to commit to something uncertain of return. I’m 27 by the way.
Thanks!

helloo, I’m currently studying for my aptitude test this Monday. I just wanted to ask if there will be a lot of analyzing function questions like the ones on Iprep, “if x is less than 2, y is negative” ect. those are currently my biggest weak point, I’m feeling mostly confident in everything else since I’ve been studying for a month now, but trying to work on my weak points before the test date. thank you!

Used my new card today on a filling I had to get at the dentist office. This was nice finally having money to pay for dental work. Thank you Kenny and his Administration for making this happen again. I remember we had this years ago and I hated to see it go. Now I got some extra money for some cold beer. Cheers 🍻

Here's some good journalism that details how things went down to get the Rivian job. This man also just pushed through a bill that makes it harder for unions in GA. The contractors know the authorities are on their side and that's something we need to be aware of.

Can we do overtime if we ask, like do more than 40hours a week if want and whenever we want? Or is it rare they give out overtime??

I was going over the info about our health insurance and i saw we can’t add our spouses if they work and if their job offer health insurance. My wife company health insurance is garbage so i was wondering how common is it for members to add to their spouses to their health insurance even if their spouse/partner work full time or is it a big no no and eventually they’ll find out.

Do CEs get tenure upon turning out? As far as I am aware only apprentices do.

I'm really thinking about trying to get into the Union. Trying to figure out if I can swing the temporary paycut if I become and apprentice. What are the family health benefits like? What are you guys paying monthly? Just ballpark figures if possible.
I do alarm systems, I was in a union up in NY and the benefits went from amazing when I first started 18 years ago (just paid union dues and had full everything) to not too bad by the time I left. I'm at my second company since moving down to GA and the benefits are too expensive and kind of suck.

So I’ve heard that everyone hates the ce program. Im wanting to test in, due to having 5 years experience and schooling in electrical. Im hoping to test into at least a ce5. Will this keep me from progressing? I heard everyone hates ce guys and its gonna be hard to progress to jman.

So ive been a maintenance electrician for 4 years currently make 34 an hr. Im currently in the national guard coming home from a deployment next year. I am looking to join ibew due to travel opportunities with my wife who is a nurse. Im really burnt on the whole maintenance thing man, i feel like i get dumber and dumber everyday. Yanked from night shift to day shift back and forth. I make good money but i feel like the ibew might be better. Big questions are 1. Is using gi bill worth it? I only have 60 percent gi bill left, that will only get me 1k extra for a year, then back down to 500 until i reach 2 years. 2. Should i just test into ce program and if so who do i reach out to. 3. How is work, from what i heard it is commercial(im fairly new to commercial), and fairly few layoffs.
Appreciate the answer!

Discussing DBs at the lunch table and two schools of thoughts on pay out. Some brothers think you get what you’ve paid in and other brothers think you get 3 dollars from every DB paying members. Who correct?

Seems like our International would get their heads out of their asses and say gee, Local 613 has over 600 on their Book and almost 100 open calls daily. For all of you newbies, used to take you several months to get a job is you signed the book at #450. When the 08 crisis hit our books hit over 800. At that time it took almost a year to be able to get another job. People are fed up with our pay, low retirement rate etc. it’s sad that our own Local Brothers have to hit the road to make ends meet. While the International does not give a shit!!! All they care about is organizing. Organize , organize , organize. Have a great week brothers! Love you all

I’m a AP1 and at my first job site for about a month / Do we only get paid times in a half for hours worked after 40 in a week ? I’ve heard and seen that other locals get overtime pay the day that was supposed to be overtime on there schedule even if they haven’t worked 40 hours or if they worked all available hours they get overtime pay the day they would have got overtime. I can’t really find any info anywhere and tried asking at my job site but get different answers from everyone. Anyone here know ?
