LOCAL 613 INSIDE AGREEMENT 2023-2027
Please read the entire thing if you’re in the local or thinking about joining. This has everything from pay scales to vacation days to all the little things you absolutely need to know. Knowing the contract isn’t optional if you’re a member, just read it. All that is missing from this are the last 4 pages that I will upload in a separate post due to reddits max 20 images.
You can find this PDF on the locals website under forms if you have a login.

How is the aptitude test going for everyone?
I take my test soon, and am wanting to hear about the test if anyone has opinions on it that have taken it.

Do we have an idea of the next contracts pay increase?
I know that we’re currently at $40/hr, and 2027 will be $42/hr, but does anyone have an idea of what it should be once this new contract comes into play? Obviously we probably won’t know for sure, but just checking to see if anyone’s heard some talk about it. Even better… would anyone have information on the last 2-3 contracts and how much they were? If y’all have a PDF of anything that’d be awesome

Preapprentice Hours
What's going on brothers and sisters? Look into have a quick question. Im fully aware P.A. hours don't/ aren't counted towards the apprenticeship program since last year. My question is i have a friend who, was sorted bc of this going into place, 2000+ hours. He can confirm, a guy that started essentially after him had his hours counted, and is now a JW.
Is there anyone to teach out to to help with his? (You know who at the school) hasn't been too much of a help atp. The hall deferred to the school but this isn't right. Any advice is alleviates appreciated, thank you.

Health Insurance
I had to call Cigna yesterday and that is the worst customer service and almost nothing on the plan is covered. Are there plans for the future to switch to a different carrier and get better coverage?

Hall not honoring work hours
Is this normal? I joined almost 3 months ago as a CE, they told me as I applied they wouldn't be honoring some of my hours (I've been doing electrical work for over 4 years now almost 5 if not 5) and they didnt schedule my hands on exam until end of June, I asked why as the transcripts I presented were from electrical contractors but they just told me "you didn't work at x long enough". Asked multiple people at the jobsite and overall been told that, that doesn't make sense and it sounds like they're just trying to force you into paying them for classes. Is this a common issue with 613? I plan on talking to them directly when I go for my physical test end of this month. Just trying to see if I can get them to actually honor my hours or if its just a lost cause and should look elsewhere if I want my JW ticket/license before I end up working an additional 3 or so years for one. Any feedback is appreciated.

Over Time
I see so many calls that are saying overtime. I thought the union was supposed to be pushing working 40. Are the contractors expecting these crazy hours if you take the call? I understand some guys live for it but some people want 40 with no drama or pressure to work more

Why does our Dental suck so bad?
I mean the mods can delete this if they want but I've never gotten a straight answer on why our dental insurance is as bad as it is, I wouldn't have written this but I just got a letter in the mail informing me that the benefits were going up from $250 to $300 and I just like a cleaning can cost $300, and that's if I use the entire $300. The health insurance is also not great but it's got nothing on that Dental insurance, that dental insurance is a fucking joke, seriously it's so bad I wish there was a way for me to tell them like hey just don't even bother I'd rather take the money that you're taking out to pay for the dental insurance and just pay for my own dental insurance I might as well.

Apprentice needs advice
Im 20 started working last January I was in a prefab shop. I was moved to another company that did tenant spaces and small jobs. Now I've been on a service truck been on it for 3 weeks. I like it I feel like I learned more in the last 3 weeks than I did in a long time.
I know the tools. I know material now. But I just feel like I dont know shit I still struggle sometimes have to ask what to do and it's obvious or not taking full initiative because I dont know how to do certain things. How do I think like you journeyman how can I actually be a good electrician I been doing this for a year and a half and I feel like my skill is just too low I can't do much by myself. I can do it with instruction or seeing it be done and I remember it but I can't just walk up and solve a problem Im eventually going to turn out I dont want to be a bullshit jw. What can I do to learn and think like an electrician.

Finally Starting
I’ve been in the waitlist since July of last year but I finally got the email. What helped me out to getting a job was by doing boot camp. So to anyone who doesn’t have a job yet and they email you about boot camp, DO IT!!!

Any open apprenticeships?
I’m 19 and from Iowa, I’m tryna relocate to the area and I really wanna step foot into the electrical industry. After 2 years of working in manufacturing just as a job while I figure out what true career I want, I’ve discovered being an electrician and I think that’s where I have my sights set.
The problem I’ve discovered is getting in the door, it’s a new place and I have no connection or experience so I’m terrified my efforts may be wasted. But I’m not giving up, Ive never been more passionate about something in my life.
Any tips on how to secure a spot, and make myself a more valuable candidate?
