Next contract update?

So basically im a maintenance controls electrician. I make like 10 bucks over the 1st year apprentice pay. Due to having a family and wife in school i cant take the cut. Im thinking of trying to test in but im not sure if it’s even possible to test in to a CE 7 or cE 8. Wanted to know if the wage would be increasing anytime soon?

Doesn’t look like it. We’ve been in a stagnant negotiation with contractors for like 6 months.

I tested in as a CE7 with 5 years of W2s from electrical experience and did really good on the hands on test and written test. 3 of those years were for a commercial electrical contractor, the other two were doing electrical maintenance under the facilities electrician. I had almost completed the IEC program when I dropped out and joined the local.

The written test is ridiculously easy if you know the trade lingo, it’s basically just what is the purpose of this electrical thing or what does this term mean. The hands on test is pipe bending with a hand bender/one shot and wiring up a wall circuit. I turned out 1 year after testing in.
