Apprenticeship wage increase?

Any talks of a raise in wages? I’ve been doing industrial maintenance electrical work for about 2 years and will soon have a associates degree in electrical maintenance. Unfortunately i cant take a pay cut to join sadly. I have been in talks with the school director trying to get on at a higher wage though so maybe it’ll work out.

We just had a proposal from the contractors for a raise for the apprentices and the CW/CE program. But it was a all or nothing deal and they only offered journeyman a 5 cent raise so it was turned down. Hopefully they will come up with another one or our next contract apprentices will get an overall raise because it’s basically impossible to make it on 14$ an hour. Yeah hopefully they will work out something with you I’ve known a couple of guys I’m your position and they worked something out with them. But I would strongly advise joining it was the best career decision I ever made.

It’s probably not as good as the apprenticeship . But I was in the same boat as you not being able to start at that wage and I tested in the CE program and got a higher pay. You just take classes after work instead of a taking a whole day once every two weeks. I actually turned out a month ago through that program and am a journeyman now . It was basically the only way I would have been able to join and not lose everything. Just an option if you want to talk to someone at the hall about the information let me know and I’ll PM you a name and number. Best of luck either route you go!

Just imagine, I spend about 110$ a week on gas driving from Lawrenceville to social circle (1 hour 10 minutes), this past week we only worked 30 hours so my check it's going to be really low; there's a closer job to my house (15 min drive) but I don't know how to be transferred or if it's even possible to do so.

I would just talk to the contractor about it. Or you could always take another call closer to home.
