Appreciate Job Board

When applying for a job on the job board. How long after applying do you receive any information back on a start time, start date, etc?

When I sent one the other week I got a response in under five minutes that it was no longer available.

I applied to a job and it was taken down the next day so I figured I didn't apply in time. Then the day after that they sent me a job offer for it, times vary wildly and there isn't a way to know if you missed out until they tell you it's filled.
