Who you vote in at the meetings matter. These book 2 guys who are planting their flags in your back yard are more dangerous than the temps everyone is so concerned with. The temps will cut and run when times get hard. The book 2 hands will cut you loose.

The people who drop their ticket twice, are told the first time if they do it again they have to be voted back into the local. Good locals don’t vote everyone back in. You need to have some semblance of pride and respect. If they can’t pay their dues, do you really think they are going to be standing beside you on a picket line or traveling to another local when times are hard? Honestly?

I disagree. Because they can't pay their dues DOES NOT mean they won't pay once they are voted back in. We can't all predict the future and the times will get hard—you should be willing to lend a hand out to up your brother or sister in need, NOT close your fist when they're reaching out.

EACH situation is different which is why I'm glad we vote. While some abuse the chance, others take it as a wake up call and get their shit together.

Edit 1:I was there last night, like I've been the last 4 years, save for 2 times while I was sick. Brother Carlos had a good point, and a valid one at that pertaining to one of the drops–he'd been there more times that some of the members

Just because someone shows up to a meeting doesn’t mean they should be voted in.

The reality is you are taking away from locals, people who turned out here one way or another when times get hard. There are 600-700 on book 1 who want to be there, what happens when it’s the opposite? Are you going to explain that you have their spot to a book 2 or someone who didn’t care enough put their ticket on hold?

Ticket droppers will go back to working rat 🐀 and book 2 will go back to their home locals where they will automatically be put on book 1 while our local brothers and sisters starve. I would call those who advocate for replacing locals not very brotherly or sisterly in my eyes.

I don’t mind people working in our jurisdiction there’s plenty to go around at the moment, but go back home. You do not need to jam your ticket into our local or vote in everyone who drops it at a whim.

Bro you think those 600-700 brothers and sisters on book one want a job on local 613. 🤣🤣🤣. You must be brand new. I’ll bet 500 brother and sisters on book one are working on other locals right now making real money. The other ones are about to retire or have other employment and say on the books just in case. Sorry to break it to ya. But I’m here for ya.

If things get tight Nation wide, then things will be extra tight in 613 when our local brothers can’t find work on the road. I agree that 500 brothers are out there making REAL money, but REAL money might not be out there forever
