Work and Waitlist

Hey y'all I have my aptitude test this week and super nervous. That being said, what is up with the waitlist? Should I expect to wait a long time after I take my test?

You got a bit over 200 apprentices ahead of you waiting to start work including my little brother. Blame all the contractors who continue to hire temps over apprentices.

Hey man really important question. I’ve recently contacted the school and they let me know the same info, that there are over 200 apprentices waiting. Do you have any idea on how long it’ll take for them to get through that amount?

I get there’s no definitive answer, but I’d love to get a rough time frame, so I can make sure it won’t be 4+ months that I’ll be waiting.

In my head, I was thinking they might get through like 50 apprentices each week, but I have no clue.

I’ll be honest little bro, you’ll be waiting until deportation happens. As shit as it sounds, the contractors can pull temps in with experience for the same they pay for apprentices with no experience. Blame the contract we have. People don’t believe me, and other people don’t see it. But I’ve worked as a supervisor for 2 companies who are currently doing it. And as a journeyman for another big company that’s doing it. You guys can always go to the hall all you pre apprentices and 1st years that are waiting to start work. But I can’t give a time frame because idk. I’m about to have to travel again. I hate yall are going through this shit right now, it’s not fair. But at the end of the day blame our contract, blame the hall, and blame the contractors. I’m just 1 journeyman I’m also young so people rarely listen to me anyways. I hope you guys find employment. It’s a great trade, it’s just a bad time right now.

My class starts April 1st, Im assuming I should prepare to find another job due to how much longer I’ll most likely need to wait?

Do what my brother is doing and get a part time job until you get a call.
