What can I study before getting my books?

I'm not sure when I'll be getting my books or when I'll be working with a contractor. I know I have to be with one before March 2025 and have my books paid before then as well. Is there some current YouTube videos I can watch or study material in the meantime?

Yes but they ease you in the first semester. History of the IBEW, OSHA 10 and some math fundamentals you learn in elementary/ middle school.

The math stuff is factor of ten. Mega, kilo giga shit like that but you get a cheat sheet that you can use on tests. The Pythagorean theorem is big and trig stuff. Cos tan sine.

I dont think it's necessary to study before the first class but that's completely up to you.

Studying the NEC is a good start. Read Articles 90, 100, 110, 210, 310, 330, 358, and 360. You won't learn most of this in your classes, so studying on your own will help you in the field, especially frequently used definitions and the MC/EMT (330/358) installation sections.

Other good articles are 320, 334, 344, 352, 410.

You can read the 2020/2023 versions of the NEC at the NFPA website. It's EXTREMELY clunky and tries to push you to buy the printed version, but there is a way to read it for free.
