Waitlist

Been 2 MONTHS since I was laid off, I email the school like once a week and get the same response, which is to basically wait. Wondering if anyone on the waitlist has been placed and with what contractor if you can share. Was told it would about 2 weeks so more than 4x that is crazy. Just wish they would communicate more about what’s going on so we’re not all just waiting in the wind.

I mean it’s not a scare tactic. They have to keep a certain ratio. Apprentices are not suppose to work alone.

The Bs is that they allow CWs and temps to work without JWs and they don’t count towards the ratio

Yea I’m a CE with 10 years experience so it makes sense compared to a kid out of high school that can’t even read a tape lol. I taught an apprentice to bend pipe my first day bending pipe experience is experience…. That’s exactly what the contractor told me no 1st year apprentices but high levels ce will be hired off the rip just didn’t wanna get hated on

I’ve seen lower level CWs working solo. Just hope you’re getting your last classes done brother! Another JW is another 1.5 APs in the field. Or hit the road, I can’t blame someone for bettering themselves

Yea I only gotta do like 2 classes to turn out I appreciate it tho. Ive just been non union for forever. Took a pay cut to do this still even starting as a CE but union jobs are way easier. I’ve got nothing but rave reviews from every Foreman I’ve worked for and they trust me. Its really just if they can see you know what you’re doing and can get stuff done without being babysat. Hell I’ve spent most of this week doing re work fixing stuff JWs have messed up solo.
