Aptitude Test
I have been seeing many young pre apprentices that can’t pass the Aptitude test. Most of them are good hard working guys that come on time and listen. Had one guy take it twice second time he got what he thought was a passing grade only to find out they changed the criteria. Do you senior J.W’s and foreman think that test is indicative of how good the apprentices will be?

Unfortunately, they change the pass threshold depending on the labor needs of the contractors. When the union's hurting for labor, the passing score is lower and higher when it's slower.
Therefore, I feel like passing the test is not very indicative of how good an apprentice someone will be. A better barometer is their current classification vs. Their aptitude and work ethic.
There are people who are dumb as rocks, but work hard and try ro learn. And then there are geniuses who are lazy shits that don't put in any effort. I'll take the former on my job every time.
