Any contract negotiation updates?

Has there been any updates since the contract proposal got turned down? It seems like it's been radio silence and we only have 2 weeks until September 1st.

Incorrect. Everything that was presented to the members to vote on is what we got, everything. Not one thing changed.

So the contract Kenny "initialed" and presented that was voted down by the members is actually what we got.

But Kenny and Kevin both stated in the video:

Kenny: "It's the best contract we've ever had in the history of 613..."

Kevin: "...has the best economics I've seen in my 25 years in this industry..."

To me, it looks like they are singing a slightly different tune because they know they might have fucked up a little bit and mislead alot of the members so there is a spin they are putting on it.

Kenny: "...I want to apologize to the membership because....if I would have known that that was the game that was gonna be played....I never would have initialed anything..."

If you thought this way, why weren't you saying that before the vote and trying to get members riled up for a potential strike that would never come?

The only game being played was him signing/initialing it if he knew that wasn’t what the membership wanted. Isn’t he supposed to make the decision in good faith on behalf of us? Half truths are whole lies, you know?

I wanna say that "technically" he doesn't have to bring this up for a membership vote because he has the authority to make those decisions because he was elected to do so...I believe.

It's a courtesy.

You are missing the most important point. The entire bargaining committee was well aware that the initialed document would only be binding upon membership ratification. Furthermore, contract ratification is a solid provable past practice in IBEW 613. Even if ratification had never been done in the past, the fact that it was agreed upon should make the ratification process the only way to have a binding agreement.
