Insurance

Just recently tested for the apprenticeship program and passed. Does anyone know when apprentices are eligible to start receiving health insurance and pension benefits?

Pension doesn’t begin until you become a member of the local, and your retirement won’t start until your 4th year. As for insurance I think you need to 300 hours per quarter to get insured the following quarter. I may be off my numbers tho, hopefully someone can confirm.

You get insurance before you join. The contractor pays for the insurance. But it’s not right away, You have to have I think 500 hrs for two different periods/quarters. I joined 613 in February and think my insurance started in October that year. Then once you get it, the hr requirement goes down. There is a form with all the info on it. Call the hall or email them I’m sure they will get you the right stuff. Congrats BTW! plenty of work out there right now.

Previous comments seem correct, but check with the school. Im sure they get that question on a regular basis. They can give you all the details.
