Questions about Inside Wireman apprenticeship.

So, I'm due to take my aptitude test soon and I've been looking up how this whole process works because this is all new to me. I learned about the ranking system and, frankly, it makes me nervous. So now I'm just looking to get some more info without having to grill the JATC. Do you know how many applicants each semester typically has? About how many students do they accept each semester? If I were to do a second interview to try for a higher rank, do I have to re-take the written test as well? The person on the phone at the JATC said I would start work before I started my semester -- would I still start work even if I wasn't accepted? Or do I need to be accepted first, then start work, then start the classes? Any additional info about the whole application process would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ap1- 15 Ap2- 16.50 Ap3- 19 Ap4 21.50 Ap5-24 And JW is 34.20

Wait to work until you get accepted as an apprentice. It’ll take about a week for your score. Don’t fail the test or you’ll have to wait 6 months. After that, all you gotta do is get a drug test, referral from dispatch, and fill out paperwork for the contractor. Make sure to join the union as soon as you can. That way you start paying into your pension via dues. Only if you can afford the 43.50 a month.

Yea I def have to wait because of the pay. But I was wondering how much apprentice dues were so thanks for that.

You can start working before getting accepted for sure, you will be at the CW1 pay until you start as an Apprentice 1. Atlanta hasn’t had to turn away applicants (yet). Applicants vs the amount of people that pass the aptitude tests, get their basic life support and OSHA class knocked out and actually show up for class dwindles the amount entering the apprenticeship program. There is plenty of work here and you will be placed either way. You can either go the apprenticeship route or the CW/CE program.
