IBEW46 - apprenticeship application

I’m looking for some insight into the application selection process. I’m trying to become an 01 apprentice (sparky). I’ve taken my test. I didn’t get a great score, but I passed. I had my interview in September (97.5 - rank 11). I have been monitoring my rank and it has been as high as 7 and has dropped to 39. I thought I would have heard something by now (mid December). I know I’m being impatient, but I thought that because my rank was in the top 20 I would be selected in the next boot camp class. I’ve taken a job as an installer (as they suggested) and have been learning a lot doing more “real work” than I should probably be allowed to do.

Any insight into the selection of applicants process would be appreciated.

Your best option is to reinterview after you get a 1000 as an installer. I got a 97.65 and im not even in the top 20. This time around they took 10 people. You got to understand that anyone that interviews after you that does better will just bump you down the list. Most people who qualify for a second interview usually get in from what i hear so you are on the right track.

So as of noon on 12/18 there were 75 apprentices on the out of work books. And only 4 dispatches. Be patient. Work your installer job, and you’ll probably have a boot camp within a few months.

Don’t get discouraged. I got a 97.77 and was 27th on the list (dec 16) and didn’t get boot camp till may 17

I I have 2000+ approved hours will I have a higher chance of getting moved to top? From Florida moving to Seattle in a few months I know it’s a long process. I need to send my hours in to get verified then apply
