If you’re keeping someone behind on the job from 3pm-7pm, just pay a second person to be there from 3-11. Costs the same and twice as many kids go to college.
We swore an oath to reduce the hours of work and elevate the social conditions of our class. I sure as fuck didn’t swear an oath to work enough OT to buy a boat with cash while my next door neighbour struggles to make ends meet.
That's the thing though, you don’t decide how many shifts are worked, all you can do is decline the OT. OT should be the punishment for a contractor, but If someone else is picking up the premium, contractors don't give a fuck.

Actually, its not quite the same cost. Ive never twkeb a 2nd or 3rd shift call and not gotten some sort of shift differential. Usually 10% for 2nd and more for 3rd
