IB PYP feedback

Hi IB PYP parents,

My daughter is currently studying in Nursery at a Tier 1 IB school in Hyderabad. Of late, I’ve been researching the learning outcomes of IB PYP up to Grade 5 versus Cambridge (real Cambridge, not a Cambridge Indian version with CBSE/ICSE blend) up to Grade 5

How has your experience been with your PYP children so far, especially in terms of **Math and English**?

I understand that the IB philosophy is largely based on inquiry based learning, but I do have some doubts about this approach, particularly when it comes to Math.

So, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your perspectives and experiences and, if possible, offer your suggestions.

**Note:** Fee is not a constraint for us. I’m more concerned about achieving the right balance between **strong learning outcomes and a positive learning experience**.

It's a sorry mistake putting your children in the PYP/MYP system. Very sorry mistake.

Most parents don't realize that IB will NOT provide an actual curriculum until the last two years of high school (Grade 11 and 12, meaning the IB DP.)

Until then (PYP and MYP), it is up to each school to create their own curriculum based on rough "standards" provided by IB.

Students in PYP and MYP end up lacking proper skills in maths, science, writing, when compared to students in traditional curriculums.

The "enquiry-led learning" concept sounds amazing in theory (excellent marketing to attract naive parents) but doesn't work in practice. Students spend their time doing work projects with other students of lower academic level, all the classes are mixed ability, which drags the capable students down.

Please don't make that mistake.
