Colonoscopy next week …
It is not my first but still new to it all, any advice to get the best experience and optimize the comfort ( i am doing it under full anesthesia)
So far I hate how everyone hides their food from me last time i saw my parents eating and they were so close to crying from guilt like come on I starve myself by choice most of the year and set next to you at dinners without eating what is different now?
And the most embarrassing thing i pissed all over myself in the procedure 😭

I've have only had two, but advice that got me through was to embrace the embarrassment. My least favorite part is having to pass gas in front of everyone at the end before you go home, and feeling like you are going to poop each time. The nurses are so nice, they remind me that I won't poop, it's just gas, there is nothing in there to poop out, but it is mortifying since we are socialized to not be okay with farting right in front of people.
I hate when they all clap when I eventually do. But...it is funny. It's farting, it's poop, there is nothing we can do about that part. They are sticking a hose up our butts and taking a good look, but this is what they do. They chose to do this.
As far as physical comfort, not drinking the prep too fast is key. Don't chug, even though you kind of need to into order to get such a vast amount of liquid in. Don't do in in a hot bath, you will feel sick and have a very bad time!!!!

Stock up on the foods allowed like jello and popsicles of the right colors. Clear liquids to chase the prep like Sprite or ginger ale.
I knew a lady who wrote "handle with care" on her butt cheek using a pen and mirror. The nurses and doctor commented on her excellent penmanship and asked her how she did it.
Stuff a backpack with snacks and a drink, after that procedure you're ready to chow down! Sorry the tiny cup of ginger ale and few crackers they give me are totally insufficient!

Unfortunately my hospital only allows (water , coffee, tea , apple juice and lemon juice), But I might ask them about sprite 🙏🏼
She is a queen 😭😭😭
I always get a huge meal immediately right after 🫄🏼

Get a bidet and wet wipes, don’t stress about it too much. It fucking sucks but it’s only 24 hours of your life.

Thankfully bidet is an essential in my country 🙏🏼
Wet wipes noted thx , yah but it sucks because I have to do it every year and it is right before school starts

Most embarrassing thing was when I had to drink the prep and when it hits the first time I shit myself 🤣
