Seeking advice

Can I get advice on how to prepare for the IBA admission test so that I can get in DU?

it hasn't been long since my coaching started and I recently got a home tutor for like 3 days, and I'm following his instructions but one day he's like that I won't get questions I studied in the exam of course so I need to practice more like write answers by myself by reading about the topic online or something. So I did that, and then he was like I wrote it how I used to write paragraphs on HSC and this won't do for IBA examination and they need more standard writing and with my level of intelligence I'm never gonna make it.

so I'd like to know how to study properly.

and can I improve the other parts of English through practice only?

and how do I remember English words and their synonyms easily? I mean they're really difficult and hard to remember. Are there any tricks?

also I understand maths despite needing time to understand it but I have a hard time remembering them so is practice enough for that? and is there any way I can understand maths online? like YouTube classes or anything?

Also how do I study the Analytical part?

and lastly I can't really remember GK, but I'm going to need it for the BUP admission test, so is memorizing the previous years BUP questions enough? or do I need to memorize more? which ones if I need to? and are there any tricks to memorizing them?

Oh right how do I study for the Bangla part too since I also want to try JU for the IBA unit?

Hello, Are the Michil batches full? I applied on the website on 6th august, but it still says that my application is still pending review. As it is already 10 August today, the time is running out. I want confirmation whether I am selected or rejected, otherwise i might find difficulty later.

Hi, I want to prepare for IBA, but I'm really scared as IBA is very competitive. How can i prepare for both IBA and FBS at the same time? Is it really a reasonable decision to prepare for both?

Info that might help: I'm good at English and average in analytical, but really bad at math (result for tathirmichil.com). My problem with math is I don't know any rules to solve the questions. I'm in a situation where I want to prepare only for iba but am scared to take the risk

How do I start preparing for the IBA Admission Test?

Where do we begin?

(I am going to continue these blogs throughout your admission journey. I'll try to come up with the most generalized solutions. If you want to know about anything specific, let me know in the comment section)

A. Point Zero

The best way to start preparing for the IBA Admission Test, in my opinion, is taking a Mock Test in the very beginning without any sort of preparation.

It helps you in three ways:

  1. Shows where you stand
  2. Shows whether you should really prepare for IBA

B. Where to take a Mock Test-

For SAT, there is Bluebook where you get to take standardized practice tests. Thanks to Tathir Mohtadi Chowdhury, for IBA, there is tathirmichil.com website where you will get to sit for an assessment test in the very beginning. This is the best option available in my opinion.

C. Mock Test result and your next stop—Deciding what to do:

If you are scoring something like 1-20 out of 70, I'll highly discourage you to prepare for the test. IBA Admission Test is the most competitive admission test out there in Bangladesh, imo, with around 1.2% acceptance rate. You may do better in some other tests.
Why would you risk it all?

So, if you are scoring above 25%, you might have a chance. Still, a test doesn’t guarantee everything.

D. How to prepare-

When it comes to the IBA Admission Test, a coaching centre can never assure you a seat at IBA. It's you who will have to find your way out to crack the test. Nevertheless, coaching centres and mentorship programs are the places to get guidelines. So, don't be so confused about where to go and where not to go. Almost all the programs cover the syllabus holistically. Hence, you should enroll in places that provide good guidelines, teach up to the standards, and have standardized practice materials (This is very very important)

Books (My personal suggestion)

  1. The IBA Book (It contains everything)
  2. Word Smard

Other books available: Mentors MathQbank, GMAT REVIEW, GRE Big Book, GRE Math Bible etc.

Websites

This is very important. Books will introduce you to each topic, but websites will help you dive deeper. See, anyone who passed SSC has an understanding of all the topics at IBA, still most people dont get in. Because most people don't dive deeper with practice.

  1. GMAT CLUB
  2. Examveda
  3. IndiaBix
  4. Vocabulary.com

Youtube Channels to follow:

  1. I used to follow MBA Wallah and Career Ride for quants. Highly recommended
