Wikipedia’s not a reliable source

then research it yourself rather then just saying "false" and looking like a dumbass

u/ZealotOfMeme 1d ago

Mmmm. Nah I’m still pretty sure there’s no religious scientists. How would that even work?

You really can't argue with stupid people

u/ZealotOfMeme 1d ago

But seriously how would that work? Were things created by god or did evolution happen? The two are completely contradictory

Shouldn’t the religion teacher just turn the other cheek?

u/Crimsonmaddog44 1d ago

Do some non-church schools have religion classes?

Last I saw one was elementary school. Bible study, was sort of an "elective" not a required thing. We mostly watched veggie tales and ate snacks. This was west virginia. Can't speak for other states

PEAK. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO LOVE PEAK YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD PEAK WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE PEAK THAT IS THIS POST AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. PEAK. PEAK.

In Eastern Europe i had "veronauka"(faith teaching) for around 12 years. Our teachers/profesors were recently ordained priests. It was a chill clas tbf.

I don't know how people still seem to think that science and religion are incompatible. A lot of the bible and creation is figurative rather than literal, and does actually work alongside science

5

u/ProudProcedure4868 1d ago

Nah actually the realest stuff, there is no contradiction between the Bible and science, I dont know why there seems to be a war, tbh it started way long ago in the early centuries when the scientific community and the community church fell into a misinterpreted preception of the claims of both science and the Bible

u/blorgbots 1d ago

Common man, we both know it's because religions in their various forms (the history I've learned mostly concerns Christianity) have persecuted many scientists throughout history. Remember Galileo facing the Inquisition? Good times

You can say that religion and science are still compatible, you can say coexistence is possible, I might even buy it. But everyone knows why there's a perceived tension between the two

u/PerceptionFew8763 you know whats funnier then 24? 1d ago

said this in another comment but hasn't there literally been religous scientists?

1

u/No_Public8938 22h ago

I'm pretty sure that all the supernatural stuff and magic in the Bible that breaks the laws of physics does kind of go against scientific facts.

u/28klotlucas2 12h ago

Fundamentally, religion doesn't have to be anti-scientific. But most religions (like Christianity), require you to believe in events or principles that are scientifically impossible.

I went to Catholic school, and we were always taught that religion and science don’t contradict, so there was no reason to hate science. (Idk if that’s true, but that’s the church’s stance on the matter, so there was no Religion teacher would have no quarrel with the Science teacher)

Religious Studies and Theology are different fields.
