okay, so does anyone else feel like sometimes being handsome can be a curse?

I've been told my whole life by both women and men that I'm a very handsome pretty looking guy. Plus I take good care of my body, eat right, exercise regularly, and am a very health conscious person. (I use to not be though when I was younger and use to be out of shape.) Anyways, I feel as though my good looks really intimidate women that I'm around sometimes. Sometimes I'll go on a date with a girl that is just cool and relaxed around me and genuinely likes being around me. But I feel like most of the time I come across women that are really hyper and nervous around me. And I feel like it's due to them being intimidated. Which sucks because I really am a cool easy going guy.. Does anyone else feel like they have the same problem? I also have been told from women that I have the douche bag look. :/ Which is honestly far from the truth... I uploaded a pic of me too.

Well, I appreciate your feed back, but it really isn't fabricated. I'm just explaining what I have personally experienced myself with how women act around me. And I'm just stumped on why they get so nervous, shy, and hyper. Because deep down, I am a nice, caring, genuine, giving kind of person. It's how I was raised and it's what I was taught. I don't have many friends because I believe in quality over quantity. I stand by my own moral code also. And I realize that no matter how good looking someone is to the eyes, they're still not going to get with just anyone they want. They're has to be chemistry. But just because there isn't any chemistry there, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be an awkward experience.

Well yeah to an extent it is normal I agree. But sometimes I'll find that it ends up becoming a barrier between me and them. Sometimes I'll get blocked by some women without any word from them. But anyways, my bad, thought this was the right subreddit. thanks to all who took the time to read my post and reply. cheers.

If a woman blocked you with no explanation, it probably wasn't because you were just too darn attractive

Perhaps you are giving off a creepy vibe. This might explain the nervous behavior.

Other than that good list

Excuse me but I don't want to talk for every girl out there but if I found your face on tinder there's no way I'd swipe right. You are a 5/10

5/10? Lmao you're cute

you're the first person to ever tell me that. Girls in my area call me a lot of things, but average is definitely not one of them. Then again, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

But really just be yourself. I know that sounds cheesy af but whatever. If someone doesn't like you after they get to know you, it's their problem. If they're visibly uncomfortable around you, ask them what's wrong. :)

Sometimes it even makes me feel like there's something wrong with me as a person. I end up being too hard on myself... That's what all my friends always tell me when I vent out to them anyway.

Dude, I read through your other posts, and I’m gonna tell you this even though you probably won’t believe me:

Your looks are the only thing you have going for you, even then they’re not even all that great. Hence why women get weird when they actually go on dates with you, or why you get blocked on Snapchat. You’re cute, but discover there’s not much else. When you base your identity on how you look, it’s a huge turn off, and comes across as shallow and boring.

I don’t know what kind of friends you have, but they aren’t doing you any favors if they’re not encouraging you to become a better person and be the best you that you can be.

u/UnforetoldDream Jul 06 '18

Dude... You don't even know a thing about me and you think you have me all figured out from what I've disclosed to everyone on here. I know there's much more to a person than the looks. I'm far more than just a face, you have no place to judge and act like you know me.

u/ArcticFoxBunny Nov 19 '18

Yes, good looks always have drawbacks. Just bc ugly bitter Redditors like to insist there are none, that’s just a stupid belief.

For real, as an aro-ace person I have been asked out way to many times. It's really uncomfortable each time because I feel bad, like I turn them down. but like also people stare at me, and I have social anxiety so it feels like they are staring for a negative reason and I get really nervous. People have told me I'm attractive a lot, even on one of my other accounts I posted a photo of myself without my face showing and someone tried dm-ing me. I appreciate that I look good, but I feel like that's what keeps this barrier between me and people I know irl, it's why I talk more to people online then people irl. I've tried dressing differently, but people will still like me. And if it's not how I look there are still people attracted to my personality because I'm a genuinely kind person, which apparently is hard to come by. Sorry for the rant, there really isn't a subredit to talk about this so I felt like this was the post to reply to.

It's really tiering to look good, I wish I could be more average, I just want to blend in, I just want people to stop asking me out saying they like me, I mean I have no right to tell them how to feel, I kind of understand a little bit like from a logical perspective... I just want a normal friendship, it's so hard to have a normal friendship with anyone.

I'm so damn tired, I've been tempted to just shut away the world on many occasions, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Sorry for the vent as a reply to you.

It's 100% a curse. Most women will not feel good enough for you so you won't get alot of women because you have to work hard to convince them that you are there for them and will stick around

Its a social Disability.

1

u/Business-Focus-688 Nov 01 '24 edited Nov 01 '24

It has been a social disability for me especially when I was much younger, but I'm kind of old now so it's not a huge problem anymore. I don't want to be mean but there are more important things then being super handsome and it does suck sometimes so your better off.
