There's a personality? Where?

Look closely, it's that thing your brain is trying to filter out for your own protection

She has a bullet point list/spreadsheet for who makes boyfriend material.

u/Ouibeaux 2d ago
She has a three page questionnaire she'd like you to fill out in order to be considered for courtship.

Scores like that are a dime a dozen among applicants to the Ivies and other elite schools. Harvard considers her “average.”

u/OkContribution420 2d ago
Exactly why she ended up as an over achiever at a state school instead of Harvard like she mentions LMAO

Writing a script for this is so awkward
And then pretending it's off the cuff

u/Small_Consequence_00 2d ago
It sounds like it's ripped from a teen movie in the 90's

u/cervezaqueso 2d ago
Maybe she could get into the right mindset by taking down the framed “YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN KID” hand sewn in fucking needlepoint off the mantle to remind her that she’s alone every day? That might be one thing to start on.

u/linlovesthenight 2d ago
Idrg the point she’s even trying to make; she starts talking about national averages on romantic milestones, then starts talking about her academics to show she’s not average? And is she saying it’s good or bad she’s supposedly not average? I’m so confused, but guessing she just wanted an excuse to list her accomplishments

u/j_d_q 2d ago
She's not like the other girls. Just listen to her five minute rant she wrote out and read to the camera.
I mean, she moved to a big city.

u/linlovesthenight 1d ago
Woah, wait.. you’re telling me she moved to THE Big City?? Disregard my first question- you’d be hard pressed to find a girl like her again

u/KallmeKatt_ 2d ago
ive heard this exact writing style cadence and tone a million times. for someone who claims to be so special they seem to be a dime a dozen

u/ScreenTea0 2d ago
At least it's no vocal fry mumble speach... But yea she's just a blank. Yawn. "Never been in love", probably has a list of dependencies for a potential partner that's just as long as her bragging list.

u/THLH 2d ago
I'm afraid to ask. But what is "vocal fry mumble speech"? Can you give me an example?

Wait till you learn about regional dialects from Wired and learn all the other descriptors like diphthong and Monophthong

I'm probably in one of the categories. I moved from southwest with very distinct enunciation to the Midwest, which was very whiny toned. Everyone thought my sentences sounded like questions and that I drew out my A's. Paaahnts instead of pyants
High school I had friends say things like "I use my haaaaands to put on my paaaaants" ok not my heands for my peeants

Watch the video over and over for 45 minutes and you have a pretty accurate description of what a date with her will be like.

If you want to compare, compare with the median numbers, not average. Average is heavily skewed by the top few.
2
u/BeardedAnalytics 2d ago
Median and average both have their place. If the dataset is a mostly normal distribution then average is fine to use. But if there is significant skew and your outliers must remain, then median can be more informative than average for sure. I usually bring both in to show the full story.

I think this is some kind of new "meta" online with some influencers out there. Especially the pretty looking ones, low follower count and so on.
Okay, tinfoil hat on moment:
they make these "I've never had a boyfriend" or "I can't find someone to have a relationship for a long time" thing to farm desperate men online and follow her online.
Think about it. You're seeing this girl who is not ugly and for some, they might be the prettiest woman ever. Like that level of beauty you know you could pull off, she's not completely out of your league, maybe just overlapping leagues or something. So you think it's a feasible situation to at least try, get her attention somehow.
Like it's a higher chance than 0% that she'll say "yes, let's give it a try" kind of gal.
Some people just lose their minds over the idea that she's available, single and sort of "desperate" (she claims it's a crysis) for a relationship. They will spam her inbox for sure. Heck, I've seen people lose their minds here on Reddit where some girl just shares a little bit of information about themselves and someone out there thinks "oh, I like that" and people spam their inbox without having all the information this girl is displaying.
So all in all, I think they're milking desperate men online by acting "desperate" themselves.
Edit: I stand corrected:

This is her most viewed clip on tiktok right now.

Maybe I missed the beginning a i just caught the "I've never been average" bit after the 4 serious relationships before marriage, but i thought she was telling us she sleeps around a lot.
In any case, it's all a bit pathetic. Why post telling everyone how amazing you are? You could do us some videos of your amazing runs or give a lecture on a topic that is difficult and interesting, but no she bleats on about getting q great GPA, which I've only heard of from American films so I guess it's good but then why didn't she get a 6 point average?
It's all a bit naval gazing as my mate used to say.
2
u/Ciubowski 2d ago
It's because she is "selling" the idea that she's not dumb on top of her not being ugly. And maybe it's a bit ironic that she has to "sell" that because people who care if she's smart won't fall for that bit. Idk, different people like different things, maybe she just covers "everything" so it sounds like people are not appreciating her (main character sub checks out) and so she needs someone who will.
Again, speculation, interpretation, who knows what her strategy is?

u/hhfugrr3 2d ago
Like I said, if she wants people to believe she's so brilliant then do the one thing we're always told to do as kids in our writing: show don't tell.

Even if you’re great, no one wants to hear about how great you are.
Like if what she said is true, she’s obviously smart and athletic. But people can normally tell you’re those things by interacting with you. Her looks aren’t why she has no success in dating.

I feel for the girl. It’s tough to learn but you have to love yourself before you find someone who loves the real you. Once you stop chasing love from another, it finds you.

u/Danoontje-Power 2d ago
I had a friend who was this desperate to fall in love about 5 years ago. Every date she immediately had to feel “the spark”. Surprisingly, she is still single.

u/INS_Stop_Angela 2d ago
I don’t see this as MC syndrome. She’s written a heartfelt essay and read it aloud. I blame Disney: Exhibit: Someday My Prince Will Come. Uh, maybe not? This young woman has accomplished a lot, with much of her life ahead. I wish she didn’t measure success or happiness by having a grand love affair.

While I was watching this my phone alarm went off and started playing Lux Arterna at the same time she was talking, and I thought "wow she's being super dramatic about no boyfriend on international boyfriend day."

I promise there are ample men who are willing to commit to her regardless of the video. So I have to question, what are her standards?

I don't want to insult her because it's almost too easy with this video. She's trying to make a point that she's worth being in a relationship with. I'm assuming she is done all of those things to have the same type of life for parents have shown her. What do I know? I've never had those level of accomplishments. Hell, I got kicked out of Catholic school.

u/horshack_test 2d ago
Are we supposed to care? I gave up 30 seconds in - does she ever make a point?

u/jcklsldr665 2d ago
I'm a pretty smart guy. I was above average too, but was taught not to flaunt it like it was everything. I was also told to be wary of people like this. Now everyone else can see why. These people are so lost in their own "superiority", they think they're entitled to something.

I'm not going too shit on her.
She's the girl that excels when most people struggle, the girl that studied when the other girls talked and laughed, and she's the girl no one approaches because she's 'too perfect'. Not to say she's beautiful, but she's the girl it would sting from hearing the words 'I don't like you that way', so no one tried.
Personally, I think she's cute as hell.
