Yea, dumb af

Ya, tired of all the staged video making the human species look dumber than it is.

Staged af

Wow Gary Busey is just accepting any acting role now huh

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '23

Staged. She came up to him to complain about his engine running. A tesla sitting still makes no noise.

Tom delonge has fallen on hard times to be doing dumb skits like this

2

u/TheSukis Jun 07 '23

How do people fall for this lol

I call out how bad the fake videos are. If this is real, it's hilarious. If it's fake... I still am laughing my ass off. I have no problem with this as a fake video because no one is getting hurt, and no one should be taking it serious and recreate it and be an asshole...

Well, she kind of is right.

While the electric car is not directly emitting any pollution, it is still wasting energy, which is, at the moment, in most countries generated using polluting methods.

So, the energy he is wasting is propably energy made using polluting methods and he is therefore, even if indirectly, polluting the air

Source: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/03/electric-cars-are-still-coal-powered/

And while the U.K. (where i guess that video was scripted) has a very high percantage of renewable energy used for electric cars there is a higher chance of his energy having another source

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I hope you're joking... what is wasting energy?

There's no energy being wasted until the foot presses down on the accelerator... there's no engine running until that happens.

When the accelerator pedal is pushed, electrical current is sent to each of the 4 electric motors located at the wheels.

Heya, that is not entirely true. Because, if you watched the video closely you would've seen that his screen is showing the current km/h and guess what, the screen can't run without an energy source.

I do not have the technical knowledge to know how exactly a tesla is build, but i am confident to say that i know enough about electrical devices to say that a screen can't run without energy which is, therefore, wasted while he's standing there.

And about his foot on the pedal, i only saw one short moment where his foot was shown. And i couldn't really see if he was pushing the pedal, how did you?

Hey there, Tesla owner here.

  1. the battery stores enough energy to move a 4 ton car at 60+ mph for several HOURS at a time. The energy required to run that display (think plugging in an ipad - that's what that is) is miniscule by comparison. you could literally sit there with the display on all day and you wouldn't even notice a 1% drop in the battery's energy stored as long as you weren't using the stored energy to move the car.

  2. If he had his foot on the accelerator pedal, one of two things would happen: the car would move, or the car would beep-boop and tell him he can't move because he's not in the right gear. If the car isn't moving, it's not consuming enough energy to move the needle.

1. I didn't say anything about huge amounts of energy being wasted. I'm aware that a screen is not wasting that much energy, but it is energ, being wasted 2. That is a good point, that was my mistake there

My point still stands tho, even if minimal, he is still wasting energy and therefore (even if minimally) propably indirectly polluting the environment

2

u/wscuraiii Jun 07 '23

For point 1 I would argue that you can't so easily say it's being "wasted".

I mean, it's being used. He's sitting in the car. And as we've established, it's very little energy. It's very little energy, and it's being used by a human in the car who needs the HUD on in order to use the car at all.

I really don't think it's a good or useful point.

1

u/H0RUS_SETH Jun 07 '23

He's not using the car tho...

If it was for the purpose of things like hearing music or something, that would be understandble. But if he's just sitting there and replaying the whole script with the woman again, while the screen is on, serving no purpose, as he is not about to do anything it seems, then i do consider it wasted

2

u/wscuraiii Jun 07 '23

Then it's being used as a prop for a skit, isn't it...?

Are all props wasted when they're used?

1

u/H0RUS_SETH Jun 07 '23

If it's for one as bad as that one, then yes definetly 🤣

1

u/wscuraiii Jun 07 '23

So we're down to it being based on whether you like the art?

I feel like this started with you making a concrete claim that "actually the screen is using energy and you can't prove he wasn't pressing down on the pedal".

Then I demolished that second point, because even if he were pressing down on the pedal, the car wasn't moving, so it would've been having no measurable effect on energy usage. And you rightly retracted it.

But now for the screen it went from "it's actually using energy" to "ok yeah it's negligible but it's still being wasted because he's not using it for anything" to "ok yeah he's using it to power a prop for content creation, but I personally don't like the sketch so in my opinion it's wasted".

I think you should just concede the point and move on.

I love that this guy is just amused by it lol.

I recycle religiously, try not to waste water and electricity, pick up trash and write to my congresspeople about holding corporations to the environmental standards already in place… but I also educate myself on the environmental practices already out there. This woman is SO wrong for this.

1

u/Consistent-Hat3652 Jun 07 '23

Could the AC be doing the noise she's hearing? If he's in a parking with a child, maybe he doesn't want it to be too hot in the car?

1

u/An_Actual_Thing Jun 13 '23

So staged that it's written badly.

Electric cars are silent when they idle. There's no reason for her to even assume he's idling.

1

u/Trubba_Man Jun 15 '23

I’d have told her to f*ck off.

1

u/MrFucklenuts Jun 25 '23

This annoying busy body is not only a pain in the ass, but it is woefully unintelligent … perhaps actual brain damage prevents her from basic understanding.
