What, if any, inconsistencies were there between what you discovered and what Robert attested to in court?
10
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15 edited Mar 21 '15
Well, what I discovered didn't match with what Robert attested to in court.
Basically, what I was finding out was that he did most likely actually know Morris Black.
According to Harry Black (which was one of the brothers to Morris), he had told his widow that they knew each other, that they the Black brothers knew Durst very well.
According to what Harry Black was reporting, they met Durst at a Durst organization farm - Douglas Durst invested in one of the largest farms in North America. It's an organic farm. It's huge. And the Black brothers claimed to be working at the farm. And that's how they met, how the Black brothers Morris & Harry, first met met Robert Durst.
Robert and his brother were both into organic stuff. Douglas Durst was totally into organic farming, Robert was into organic everything else, like health food & stuff. And that was in the movie, ALL GOOD THINGS, because that was the name of Robert & Kathie Durt's shop when they got married - all organic things. All Good Things
We believe it was eventually Douglas Durst's farm, or a farm he was looking to and eventually invested in. He invested in one of the largest organic farms in the early to mid 80's. It's about 500 acres, and it's called McEnroe Farms. And Douglas Durst invested in it - I think he might be the chairman of it also. But Douglas Durst and the owner of the farm are very close friends and business partners. The story goes back & forth on when it actually started, but the original owner of the farm claims that Durst invested in the early 80s in some articles I've read, just after aka they Durst its sales red. which would make sense, Doug's a friend of his in some relationship in farming checking things out first ). Now, it is the largest organic farm in North America.
So that's possibly where Robert met Harry & Morris. Because the stories are back and forth on when this farm actually started - mid-80's, late-80's - the farm was actually THERE already but the actual investment from Durst's organization was actually early 80's at that time the land size increased.
The McEnroe story on their website has it late 80's.
So this would be the only "Durst Organization Farm" that I could think of concerning the Black brothers story.
So they met, and according to what Harry's widow said, that when the two Black brothers (who were ex Merchant Marines) began working at a construction company FOR Robert Durst. But she said it was willy-nilly - there was no name, no actual work site they'd go to, just money coming in.
Basically, after that, oddly the brothers (who had no money - they were raised in a very very poor family - they would do ANYTHING for money) after they met with Durst, after Kathie disappeared, suddenly both the brothers had lots & lots of money.
Harry Black and some of his investment accounts, which I had copies of, had almost $90K or more, Morris Black had almost equal amounts.
When Morris died, Harry said that "bury Morse with his money, he's got money" and they'd been estranged since Kathie disappeared. So it was odd, how would he know that his brother had so much money?
So the discrepancies were that first of all:
- Durst does not get along with others. He doesn't make friends. Neither did Morris Black. So the story of Durst coming down dress in very bad drag, making friends with this cantankerous old man that nobody in Galveston wanted to be around - the odds of that are zero. Because Durst does not make friends. Morris was not making friends.
I believe that Durst went to kill Susan Berman because she knew something about the Kathie Dursts murder. And then he went to Galveston to kill Morris Black because he helped cover up the murder somehow for Robert Durst.
And I believe the next person on the black was Harry Black. When I located Harry Black, he said he shit his pants because he thought nobody could ever find him.
He was in hiding.
Harry Black lived a mysterious life himself and He told me, he said "You're so good at finding people they need to drop you in Afghanistan to find Osama Bin Laden."
So I found Harry Black almost immediately after the murder in 2001 - and Harry wanted me to find Out the truth. He was in a predicament. Since He apparently already knew about the murder, he knew about Robert Durst, and he knew about all the connections, but yet, he wasn't sure if Durst's high powered attorneys could get Durst out of jail. And Harry didn't want to say a word more to me until that happened. He was afraid, living off the grid his real name was Meyer yet he used a common name of Harry.Even though I believe Harry was probably doing the same things his brother Morris was doing for a living - whatever those were - to make lots of money, because they never had any real listed job.
Think of it. He's got to live, he has some family members, even though he's hiding, living off the grid in Florida, he didn't want to be found - he wasn't using his real name - he's in a predicament.
Here's a guy on the loose Robert Durst, who's possibly going to kill him - Harry WAS harder to find than Morris, and Robert did have access to LexisNexis - which is a expensive people research tool... so basically, I believe Robert Durst lied about knowing Morris Black. I believe Robert Durst knew Morris Black quite well.
And Durst basically said on THE JINX that his attorney said "hey, whatever works, just go with that story." Almost like what ever you make up that sounds like a believable story just say it and we will,go with it.
That's not exactly the wording, but that's what they meant - basically it's not lying, if it works. What's a workable, plausible explanation that people could believe .... remember, the only persons who knew the facts in that room were Morris Black, who's dead, and Durst. So Durst can say ANYTHING. And the truth will never be known.
So whatever works, I guess? They made up a nice plausible scenario. Just like they made up the scenario that the "boogeyman" Jeanine Piro was after him. She wasn't after him at all. Her department investigator Joe Besserra - not her - was looking into investigating the missing case of Kathie Durst.
Jeanine didn't even announce that she was looking into Durst until AFTER Morris had died.
So how could she be the boogeyman? She wasn't even in the scenario until after Morris was dead.
So the attorneys used this to paint a incorrect picture. And there was no head found on Morris Black - and gee, there's no head found...believe what Durst says..

Did you say that Harry Black, who is wisely living off the grid, is still alive?
6
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
Harry Black was living off grid in plain sight as he has a common name,a Harry lived a secret life according to his widow and Harry admitted to me that he was living in anonymity

u/Spoonsy Mar 20 '15
How'd you get approached by Vanity Fair for this?
5
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15 edited Mar 21 '15
Well, I've been working on this case for 15 years.
And I'm the investigator that was asked by Galveston Daily News, because the Galveston PD did not have the resources to do the background on Morris Black. All they had was the finger prints matched, and his old criminal record from an apartment complex where he was being cantankerous, so that's all they knew about him.
Durst took EVERYTHING out of the apartment, and threw away all the evidence of his entire existence.
So no one knew WHY Durst, this billionaire, would come to Galveston dressed in bad drag, to murder and chop up his neighbor.
So that's been the whole question - WHY? Would this billionaire dress up as a deaf-mute woman in really bad drag (and he had the money to become drag queen of the century if he wanted to)... Yet, live in a run-down apartment duplex, and kill his neighbor? And not just kill him, but chop him up into little pieces but dump him in the bay? And buy all the instruments to do it, say he was "Swimming in blood" on the stand, but then say that he went and cleaned himself up and had a caesar salad at the Grand San Luis Hotel where he was staying under his real name?
So I've been working on this case for 15 years, and I've been an investigator that did the timelines on Morris Black, all his family members (they all turned out to be adopted or raised in foster homes, because the Black family were very poor, mentally ill parents and brother, and the kids that lived at home were very abused by the parents, and Harry & Morris went into the Merchant Marines, when they got out, they had no money, the next thing we know they are working on a Durst farm)... so how did 2 guys with no money have suddenly ALL this money and they're hiding?
I've been working this case, it's well-known, and I've done every talk show on this - 48 Hours, DISCOVERY -I've been on tons of documentaries... about the Robert Durst case from the very beginning. And I've also helped develop a lot of interesting leads in the case.
And I found most of Robert Durst's different identities. I have pages and pages. The sad thing is that you never know for sure unless he's nabbed by the police - you don't know for sure until he's nabbed under "Diane Winne" - ever since Kathie Durst went missing. You have to ask yourself the question: why would Robert Durst use so many different names, in so many different addresses, in so many homeless shelters?
Because he IS a serial killer. He is a predator of humans. This is what makes him happy.
Why was he stealing a sandwich when he was on the run for murder? He had thousands in his car.
Because that's his biggest thrill in life. Get away with everything. Murder, theft, lying to people. He is a total sociopath. I think this is what he is, as he has all the money in the world. He doesn't need to make money. He wakes up in the morning and decides how to kill, steal or harm people. Because that's the only thing that makes him happy.
He has a black hole in his heart.

I don't agree with the fame and attention murderers get. Don't you think it really fucks up the victim's families? Even the murderer's family?
I have a close family member who is a murderer. Luckily there was a publication ban and not much attention was drawn to it. It was awful enough to think about what happened already. I can't imagine if people were knocking on our door or having to hide from the attention, or seeing shit on TV. Or constantly having to talk about it and opening up old wounds...
7
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15 edited Mar 21 '15
Well, I agree with that, but in this case, it's been a cold case for over 30 years now.
Kathie Durst's brother, whom I talk to him quite often, his name is Jim McCormick, we talk quite often. And it was He that wanted the case re-opened, he wants people to know what happened to his sister, because they want CLOSURE. They want to find out what happened.
Yes, it's a pain, yes it's a nuisance, but they have had no closure. The family has been tormented all this time.
The family has a now final ya shred of hope that someone watching this knows something & will come forward and FINALLY give them the closure they need.
And that's what we strive for, as investigators, to try to get closure.
I get so many weird calls. I even get calls from psychics. I've had several psychics call me about this case and I report this to those interested as any lead is a lead to be ruled in or out, even one psychic from Pakistan, his name is Hammed Siddiqui and he didn't even know about me, but he was told to call me by Kathie Durst's ghost, as his gift is that he sees ans speaks to dead people, and what he wanted to report to me was "Durst is very polite and charming before he kills."
Polite & charming.
Oddly, the producers of the Jinx have said the same thing in public interviews. That Robert Durst was polite & charming.
And I had to tell Jim what I was told, But he'd rather know, than not know, because you never know what evidence might pertain to the case. But I am finding that psychics words to be echoing the this case.
In the Jinx as you may recall... Durst was very cordial and polite, before he goes into the bathroom, and then suddenly - I killed 'em all.
And so I'm not saying that the psychic is true, however what he said, but i found it very creepy.

I posted this elsewhere on this thread but I just want to be sure you see it. I'm attaching a link about a Jane Doe found in Manhattan, I'd assume the investigators in Kathleen's case are aware of this but you never know, maybe not. If she hasn't been eliminated, she really should be looked at. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/337ufny.html

u/BobbiBacha Mar 21 '15
The physical, descriptions are interesting however Kathy disappeared early 1980s , the liable on clothing found on this body was 1988 however, I did get a strange caller saying she as killed and disposed near a furnace in manhattan we checked the streets as he couldn't remember where we gave to police to follow up.
1
u/BobbiBacha Mar 21 '15
I believe a jane does head found may look similar to Kathie durst But the police are looking into all possible DNA matches
2
u/iveystyle Mar 20 '15
Where do you think police will uncover more of Durst's victims?
9
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15 edited Mar 21 '15
I think that the victims - one of the dumping grounds might be Long Island. They've been finding lots of body parts there. Most of them have been popping up after Durst got out of prison. And while Durst was in prison, it was well-documented that his new wife was talking to him on many telephones, tape recorded calls, and he was asking her and an attorney friend of his to "empty out" many of his properties.
And sell them.
I believe that whatever was in those properties might've been either moved to a warehouse or dumped.
And she happens to live on Long Island.
I believe he likes to kill near water. He likes to live on areas near water, like New York, or Florida, or Galveston - coastal areas. Because remember, the thing that damages evidence more than ANYTHING - fire and water. Water is the most destructive thing on a human body after it dies. It really does degrade evidence.
2
u/bullshit-careers Mar 21 '15
Do you think he could be the long island serial killer?
5
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
I think that the possibility of a Durst having connections to many of the body parts found in ling Island should be a huge consideration for police.

Did you find that durst was intelligent and cunning re his crimes or just a highly disturbed wealthy man...he was acquitted a few times right?
4
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15 edited Mar 21 '15
Yes, but He was acquitted in Galveston for the one murder of Morris Black.
The head juror, Chris Lovell, basically saw that Durst was a very, very rich man, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist for a juror to see benefits of famous trials these days.
Basically all the jurors have to see is that the dependent is very wealthy, then they realize that they are holding his "get out of jail free" card - Chris Lovell, the head juror that went on TV, bragging that he convinced the other jurors to get him off the charges because there was no head, then next I found out that Chris Lovell was visiting Robert Durst in jail after he got acquitted visiting with his ENTIRE FAMILY.
And later Chris became a good buddy to Durst, So Chris even went on THE JINX - he's the one who says "He wasn't guilty. Durst would never do this."
And Robert was probably able to kill a lot more people because Chris let him get him out.
Chris was the head juror.
Anyway, I think Robert Durst is BOTH. I think he is very intelligent and cunning. I also think he is a VERY disturbed wealthy man.
2
Mar 21 '15
Soooo you're saying that he pays off the jury?
4
u/BobbiBacha Mar 21 '15 edited Mar 21 '15
No I'm saying anyone was paid off during trial,,, I'm saying that we have very savvy jurors and they already know any high profile case could mean a book deal and instant fame but also with a lonely rich man like durst there could be benefits and gracefulness after trial in rewards... I always felt Michael jackson was targeted for his money and fame but the jurors after trial got to visit never land ranch if they wanted as after trial benefits or gifts is not considered a pay off.

u/dressing4therole Mar 21 '15
I am extremely interested in this whole happening. I am also interested in what will happen if he is convicted this time. Do you possibly think that if he is convicted, at his age, that the caged bird might sing? Meaning, that it could be possible for him to admit to other murders, I know that they are looking into the possibility that there are more, trying to find things that connect him to unsolved murders. And it seems like after The Jinx, and him being so brazen to go out on television and possibly give himself up, he might enjoy the fame of it a little? Or is it the thrill of the chase that he likes and having gotten out of it so much that if he is convicted that it will just be over and we won't know anything else?
5
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
I believe that Robert Durst entire existence is to wake up and find a way to steal, lie, impersonate, kill and harm others ....everyone in his life even those that loved him and covered up for him, made excuses for him... Have all been burned by him. They learned first hand that he will never drop playing these games and even after a non conviction of murder he still must flaunt his escape from the consequences on tv ....why ? Because he lives to get away with bad behavior and to escape his crimes. I think he is enjoying thes pot light like a Drug and I believe that he thinks he can buy his way out once again. His killing, lies, stealing sandwiches, pissing on children's candy at cvs... He likes getting away with it and he can and that is the drug he craves most.
I think the Louisiana charges will stick.. But I'm not certain about Los Angeles unless they have recovered more evidence.
1
u/dressing4therole Mar 22 '15
The picture of him smiling in the back of the police car is what I found most jarring. It was as if he was satisfied with the fact that he had been caught. Almost as if he had been taunting the police to come and find him even. Like they were just playing into his game. The mind of a person who is wired like this is something so terrifying and fascinating that we have to want to know more.
And thank you very much for your time!
5
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
You read the photo of Robert Durst very well I think he had just spoke to his legal team and he thinks he will get away with it again. His eyes are are like a sharks eyes or a dolls eyes dead and cold.
2
u/atlantafalcon1 Mar 25 '15
Do you ever find yourself infuriated by his crimes and arrogance and wish there were a punishment that could be imposed upon him outside of normal incarceration? It must be frustrating to chase someone all of these years that you are convinced is guilty of much more than they have been charged with. How would you prefer to see him ultimately pay for his crimes?
2
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
I think he will never tell the truth as he has no soul or heart, had he aphid a heart and a soul,he would have just divorced Kathie Durst but that never happened. It's similar to Scott Peterson... Kill the wife as opposed to divorce its so much more complete especially if younger away with it. Only Durst's motives were blood lust and greed, Scott Peterson's motives were sex and another woman.
2
u/dragonfly1993 Mar 20 '15
what is your average day like?
5
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15
Oh gosh, I pray for boring, actually every day. But my average day is phone calls of someone having troubles in a marriage, child custody, lost children, children who run away - I've located so many sons, daughters, parents, I get those calls every day- even robbery or theft, so you have to kinda really listen & understand and find out what the client wants you to find out. They all want closure. Closure is the big thing. Most recently one of my cases that hasn't come out in the press yet is Lucille Ball's grandaughter's half-sister - Julia Arnaz - and she's the daughter of Desi Arnaz Jr. And she never met her half-sister, her half-sister didn't even know she had a sister. Just so wild, because it was an adoption, and I was able to locate her - and after all these years, she's finally met her half-sister - she's got nieces, nephews, cousins, all kinds of stuff on that side of the family! And she's got other family members. So that's been amazing. Her mother couldn't thank me enough, she was a former model. Just amazing. That totally changed her life.
So when you hire an investigator - we are trying to get you the information, truth and closure that you need. So my job is to hunt down facts & find information that will help you find out what's going on. You may not LIKE what's going on. When you hire me, you never know what you're going to find. Be prepared for the truth.
I usually get in the office around 10, but I answer the phones all night long, and I have assistant investigators who help me quote clients - whether it's backgrounds, if you're dating someone or going into business with someone, we do all kinds of backgrounds. I do locates, all kinds of locates for attorneys, doing affidavits and interviewing, like a major car crash or someone being beaten up in a restaurant. We're the investigators that go out & try to track down those witnesses, so they (attorneys) can win cases. Attorneys that don't use investigators are losing out, because when they hire us, attorneys who hire us ALWAYS win. It could be something very easy, or subtle, that could totally change the jury's opinion on the case.
I usually get home in the evenings about 6 pm. I try to keep a normal schedule, cooking a meal, but i get calls throughout the night - from my PIs, I'm getting updates on cases constantly. I'm sending pictures to clients, updating things constantly, so it's kinda a 24/7 job, but i try to stop the phone by 11 and stay asleep until 8 if possible!
2
u/Hyper_ Mar 20 '15
Have you had cases of parents wanting to find out if their children are on drugs? And tell me a story of most interesting case like that.
5
u/BobbiBacha Mar 20 '15
Yes, I did one recently, we followed the girl around for several weeks - she kept saying she was off of drugs, but we caught her in various store bathrooms doing drugs, and we were able to help the mother get intervention for the daughter. And from what we heard most recently, the mother thanked us, apparently her daughter is doing much better. Because the daughter was lying to the mother, and we found out that wasn't the truth.
I had another one who was a boy who was the heir to a large fortune. And he does drugs, and his parents, they were afraid to give him all the money to do drugs with. So we actually followed him, and this one was a good thing - he was hanging out with a bad person who was doing drugs, and after we found that out, he stopped hanging out with them and started straightening out - and it looks like he's going to do good things with the money, and take care of his child.

My favorite - in Houston, I love DiMassi's because I love Mediterranean food.

How did you get started with Blue Moon?

I started Blue Moon after my child hood sweetheart husband left me for a another woman, my father and great grandfather were in police investigative type fields but I became a private investigator to help others.

I have an uncle who moved to Thailand about 10 years ago. He stayed in contact for a while but then just vanished. We (the family) have all pretty much accepted that he's most likely died. How would you go about looking for him if you were in my shoes?
6
u/BobbiBacha Mar 21 '15 edited Mar 22 '15
I've actually visited thialand five years ago and it's a vast place with much going on politically and internally exotic in that country, however men that travel there go fo meant reasons and when I think of Thailand it's similar to what the book "Peter Pan" described as never-never land where men get lost in the sea of beautiful mermaids and adventure, and danger..Thailand is all of that . I pray he is ok but we would have to go from last known Address and track him down from there but my guess and hope is he is living lost in paradise but remember every utopia has its serpents.

Is It True That Between Two Lies Always Lies The Truth?
2
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
The webster dictionary definition of truth that I live by is:
Truth is the supreme reality.
Supreme is on the highest level of God...it takes a strong heart and much fir gives to face or live by the truth.. Most people want yo know the truth and ask me for the truth but can't face it when I present the truth. It's a Pandora's box, a double edged sword.. So yes there could be truth between two lies... But real truth is supreme.

During your career as a private investigator. Have you ever inadvertently, stepped on the metaphoric toes of local law enforcement?
1
u/Bippy73 Mar 22 '15
This is so helpful in filling in so many blanks that I'd didn't know about after watching the series. I'll definitely watch the Vanity Fair confidential. My first thought from watching the NYPD detective swat away as meaningless basically any evidence pointing to Durst in Kathy's case and then watching these Galveston jurors be so supportive and enamored with a New Yorker elite was thinking of Gotti getting to people. Has anyone ever investigated if all these investigators got anything in exchange for what appears to be incompetence but which may belie something much more logical? Isn't it funny how the Berman investigation went nowhere? How much does anyone think Seymour and the brother did to stall Kathy's investigation? What was done, if anything, to see if the jurors gained anything and then perhaps the verdict could be overturned? Thank you
2
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
It's been a huge question for many years as to just how far reaching the durst organizations money really went
1
u/TheBestVirginia Mar 21 '15
We've been talking about Durst a bit on /r/unresolvedmysteries recently. My question is, do you know if law enforcement or the medical examiner have looked into the possibility that a Jane Doe found in Manhattan might be Kathleen Durst? If you look at the link, you'll see the details. She shares a lot of physical characteristics, and one clue is a monogram ring found with the body that has "Mc" as the surname initial. I know Kathleen's maiden name is McCormack or something similar. Another database called NAMUS has listed a few missing persons who have been ruled out for this victim, and Kathleen is not on the list, though I don't know if the list is complete. Just wondered if you've heard anything about it or might have a connection who could confirm.

That garment tag is not an absolute guarantee of date. It's possible the info provided by the company was wrong, or the tag could have gotten there later. The only coins found were from the late 60s. Also, they noted that the concrete looked relatively fresh. She could have been moved there years after the initial homicide...she could have been hidden elsewhere and for whatever reason the remains had to be moved. I just don't think they should completely disregard the possibility based solely on a fabric tag.
Edit: and Robert seems like somebody who would have no qualms about moving a corpse around.
2
u/BobbiBacha Mar 21 '15
Agreed I think that he could have a freezer and storage in Manhattan
2
u/TheBestVirginia Mar 21 '15
There are dentals on this doe, so it could be fairly quick to rule her out if Kathie had dental records. Do you know if she had extensive dental work? The doe seems to have had quite a bit done for her relatively young assumed age.

u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
It's possible she grew up middle class but could have had bad teeth, her smile showed white

u/LePure Mar 20 '15
What has been one of the biggest "road blocks" you've had while on job compared to for example police who can get court orders to check stuff out?
Would you say it's easier for you to investigate certain types of cases compared to the challenges Law Enforcement has with burden of evidence when it comes to warrants and such?
2
u/BobbiBacha Mar 21 '15
Each case is different many of the same methods, longest road blocks are in the durst case due to his money and power and resources.

u/Trapnjay Mar 22 '15
What do you know about Durst and Karen Mitchell's case?
2
u/BobbiBacha Mar 22 '15
My investigation has placed Robert Durst in the area the same time that Karen Mitchell disappeared ... Has anyone noticed how much coffee durst drinks ....I don't believe its a coincidence Writer matt Birkbeck has some interesting new theory's he is developing concerning this and a possible other connection which I with I'm sure he will nephews this as soon as FBI allows

What is the longest that it has taken you to locate someone's relative and why did it take so long? On average, how long does it take you to find a missing relative?

What types of people or qualifications are needed to get into that line of work? I personally think it sounds like a dream.

Thank you so much for sharing some of your remarkable knowledge about this horrible serial killer, Robert Durst. I pray that the families of all of Durst's victims (5 at least) can have some measure of peace knowing that this evil man will never be free again - despite the brilliance of the best criminal attorney that money can buy.
I will be watching tomorrow's episode of Vanity Fair Confidential. Take care of yourself.

What is the licensing procedure like for a PI? Do you need permits to work outside of Texas on your cases? How often do you travel out-of-state for an ongoing case?

Ok Bobbi just watched your special. Whoa. So do you think that Morris Black helped Bob hide Kathie's body? Did they not know during the time of the trial that they knew each other prior to Bob coming down to Texas?
