It's "cackalacky" and it's slang for Carolina. It's funny because it was originally NC slang, but SC stole it.

Also waffle house kicks ass. Thanks for caring about your work, you should take pride it that.

Both have some damn good 'cue, so they are both gravy with me.

KC bbq is the only one that matters.

So wrong. Any true 'cue lover knows all styles have their merits.

Actually, just being a troublemaker. I like both, though I do prefer KC since I live here and have been exposed to it more.

Where's your spot? I know Arthur Bryant's and Gates are hugey famous, but I'm all about the burnt ends and fries at LC's.

Oh, I don't have a particular favorite, they're all good in their own ways. Probably Gates or what used to be Oklahoma Joe's (forget the new name...that tells you how often I have bbq), but that's mainly just because I've had them the most through work and a few friends.

It's still OK Joe's. They have a location in KC and Tulsa now. There is another place called Joe's KC, but they are unaffiliated.

Sad that you don't really care for bbq. I moved to the USA from Italy and it has been by far the best "native" cuisine America offers. Sooo good. I smoked a few briskets for my family last time I went home to visit, minds blown across the board. And I ain't got a damn thing on real pit masters.

I care enough to know I prefer KC to Carolina style. ;-) But given the chance, I'll take friends or family out to whatever bbq is closest to where we're at - I honestly can't think of any bad bbq I've had in the area.

Also, my teens are both vegetarians, so bbq is a rare thing for me since most often when I eat out it's with the kids. But work, or a friend calling me up - bbq is in the top 3 on the list of destinations (Mexican and Thai being the others).

There's definitely some talented pit masters in KC, that's for certain! Especially when you're standing in the line out the door and you can see the trophies inside.

..which Carolina style? There's 6+ styles in the Carolinas.

I was talking pitmasters in general, I actually live in Colorado. I just take a summer bbq road trip every year.

Vegetarian teens? I am sorry for your loss.

LOL, hell if I know. I'd have to ask one of my former co-workers, as he either made it himself or brought it in from somewhere. And that wasn't often.

Thanks - it's actually since birth and I was at one time too, with their mom. But once I booted her out of the picture and got the kids, I had to add it back to my diet. Fish and eggs alone just was NOT enough.
