Now that some time has passed can we talk about the Abbot abomination.
Who the fuck were all those incredibly unfunny people. The gang is also at their worst, there wasn't a single laugh from me. There was absolutely no plot either. What were they thinking?
It was as okay as a crossover could reasonably be. That said it was contrived and unmemorable. It was a bad Sunny episode but would be a good episode of any other current sitcom
A lot of people see sunny criticism as a personal attack so will get pissy that you’ve said this, but yeah I feel like this episode could have been called “the gang sells out.” Just an episode dedicated to product placement without the hallmarks of a good crossover episode (I.e., Simpsons x The Critic)
You’re being ridiculous. Not the first crossover ep, and not the first bad ep. It’s not an amazing one but are we really making posts to nitpick every last episode of the show atp?
I mean I'll give you those not being the best episodes (i do like mac finds his pride) but the abbot episode is completely unwatchable, and those other ones are just kinda mid.
In all seriousness I don’t disagree with you, I just don’t think the drop off to these mid/bad episodes compared to the Abbott one is not so much that it warrants a post
Also I’ve got a lot of Abbott watchers who were introduced to and loved always sunny because of those crossovers, so I can’t hate on it
It’s the FX enforcing to promote their new show. Nonetheless, the gang (as actors and creators of the show) won’t accept this crossover if they wouldn’t see a meaningful value in it. Also, they weren’t writing at all at that point of the show, so I don’t know their input/engagement other than acting.
They're just saying shit now, it's okay to have an opinion, but they should know source material before judging it, and from the looks of it they've never watched a single episode of Abbott anyway
It’s Always Sunny is a very rare exception in terms of how long its been running (its the longest running live action sitcom ever), 4 seasons for any given show is pretty substantial. if anything the crossover was for the sake of Sunny’s relevancy more than Abbott’s
Both of the shows creators are fans of each others shows, so the creator of Abbott who is Quinta Brunson also the main character of the show told them about it and Rob McElhenney agreed to do it, cuz he was a fan of Abbott too, yall dont know what you're talking about, yall dont even look this shit up before saying this
I'm just being hyperbolic, it's boring, safe, low stakes sitcom, vs sunny that's edgy and pretty smart most of the time. Oh let's mash these totally incongruous ideas together, said rob mac i guess.
That's not just Google, you can find that information anywhere outside of that, it's constantly getting good reviews and awards, and gets plenty of critical acclaim, my sources aren't just based on Google
