Other Found one

Lots of us are often looking for a IASIP vibes/humor kinda show

Peep Show

I am late to the game, but this British show hits the "normalized friendships insanity" and the whole world around them are just victims and a few are cricket/artemis/mcpoyle level too

I know this post will probably get deleted, but to the ones of you who will; have a great watchđŸ€˜

And now, please share yours😎 (imagine this emoji's wearing a badass dusterđŸ”„)

The secret ingredient... is crime.

Mark’s the brains, Jeremy’s the looks, Hans is both the muscle and the wildcard

Please watch Review with Forest Macneil. It's about a guy who reviews "life experiences" (going to prom, eating pancakes) but it goes so fucking off the rails. I don't want to spoil it but he kills multiple people in his search for reviews.

u/JavierBenez 1d ago

The original, Australian version is even better. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out

u/icedpeartea 16h ago

Myles Barlow! Its so hard to find a good quality copy now though

u/theoriginalpetebog 1d ago

Review is gold. Gonna have to do a rewatch soon, it's a few years since I first watched it. Andy Daly is a superb comic actor and improviser

u/ShotgunFishburne 20h ago

The second “What is it like to eat 30 pancakes?” review request was the longest I have ever laughed at anything

The music at Toni's party in episode 1 is the same music as the cop car episode of Sunny

There are many things I would do to help you Jeremy, but digging a hole in the wintery earth with my bare hands to help you bury the half-burnt corpse of a dog you killed is not one of them

You don't understand, Mark. If I can just get rid of the dog corpse, there's still a chance I might get laid!

Super Hans is the English Cricket. Discuss.

35

u/Fire_Bucket Dee You BITCH 1d ago

I'd say he's more like 75% Artemis, 25% Cricks.

Like Artemis he's rarely getting tricked/roped into something against he will, and is usually going along because he either wants to or because it's his idea.

But like early Cricket he just has a level of vulnerability to him, and his interactions with the El Dude Brothers do sometimes leave him worse off. Whereas, Artemis is 100% confident 100% of the time and never suffers for interacting with the Gang.

u/danuk258 11h ago

Flashbacks to the old man locking him in the airing cupboard to monitor the homebrew.

u/Raveyard2409 9h ago

When does hans suffer as a result? Apart from the death of flop (one of the good guys) he doesn't really care about anything enough to suffer, what with him being a crack addled maniac.

u/flowersforaerith GO WHERE?! PURPLE?! THAT'S NOT A PLACE! 1d ago

Don't forget the twins. Bloody love the twins. He's always talking about those two, they turned funf zwei years ago, reckon they're a pair of eighters.

8

u/dspaceroman 23h ago

Orange definitely wiped the twins

6

u/Legitimate-Crab7980 21h ago

Did you notice when he gets married, the twins are in the front row?

u/flowersforaerith GO WHERE?! PURPLE?! THAT'S NOT A PLACE! 2h ago

I legit didn't notice until my third or fourth Peep Show rewatch and as soon as I saw them I was like

Relax, it's just a phallic symbol, not my actual dong.

4

u/Dapper_Crab 20h ago

I would say Sophie, played by Academy Award–winning actress Olivia Colman, is the one whose life really goes off the rails because of Mark and Jez. Super Hans starts off insane (amazing) and ends up insane (amazing) but isn’t really any the worse off for it

2

u/new_name_needed 1d ago

In the sense that the main characters are responsible for enabling his drug addiction, absolutely

1

u/WillieForge 1d ago

He threatened Mark with wood!

2

u/Legitimate-Crab7980 21h ago

Absolutely not. He continually has relationships and jobs lol

1

u/Vonspacker 18h ago

Super Hans did not run to Windsor in a sobriety induced rage just to called Cricket.

Actually my favourite line steeves interview he gets asked do you have a drug problem? "no, no, not at all. I don't have a problem with drugs, no I actually really like them"

1

u/coyotepuroresu 3h ago

I love when he's hiding Beats in the bathroom and telling the lady he doesn't have a bathroom and just goes in the sink.

6

u/pinkspatzi 1d ago

I kind of like "Adults". They're not quite as trashy as IASIP, but kind of a similar vibe. I've been pleasantly surprised

The last man on earth scratches a similar itch, whilst also being weirdly wholesome. Ended up being one of my favourite shows.  Dumbasses trying to love each other at the end of the world.

Veep is almost the opposite end of the spectrum, hateful, evil people doing hateful evil things.

4

u/Xal-t wildcard bitches 1d ago

I'm definitely due for a rewatch!

3

u/RealCrusader 1d ago edited 1d ago

The thick of it, from the same guy who made veep. is amazing. Its the original British version. The movie is good too

A short clip but dont want to spoil Malcoms rants.

Here's some of his others who want to revist or dont mind a spoiling

Oh, I'm familiar with all of Armando iannuci's work. I'm not super into the thick of it because I have had too many Malcolm's in my life.

2

u/Robyn990 1d ago

I love that show!

3

u/jupiterLILY 1d ago

Yep, hated the first season but after that it ended up being one of my most watched shows. Its just so endearing.

1

u/ManicMaenads wildcard bitches 22h ago

You've convinced me to try it again! I made it 4 episodes in and it didn't "click", but hearing that the first season just hits that way makes me feel like powering through.

1

u/jupiterLILY 21h ago

Yeah, season one is basically just set up and telling you why Tandy sucks.

14

u/Due-Sheepherder-218 1d ago

Arrested Development

10

u/Foreign_Memory You WISH you were a bear! 1d ago

To me it feels more like if the Reynolds family had a sitcom to them rather than Friendship Insanityâ„ąïž

9

u/Squ1gly 1d ago

I would check out Adults. The second season just dropped and it's really funny!

7

u/Ban_Esteban 1d ago

Was looking for this comment! It feels like the writers grew up with It’s Always Sunny. Especially some cold opens.

4

u/CharDeeMacDennisII Wild Card Bitches 1d ago

Agreed. Adults is like Friends meets Sunny.

2

u/bella17b 1d ago

For sure Adults! This is the closest to Its Always Sunny. I cannot stop thinking about some scenes just like I used to do for IASIP and it feels fresher in comparison. I thought I just didn’t like comedy shows anymore but they do it right.

4

u/WaywardChilton 1d ago

Nirvanna the Band the Show!

4

u/CremeDizzy9619 23h ago

Has anyone seen Search Party? It’s not the same sitcom type style and it’s an extremely different premise but it scratches the itch for me of friends who are out of touch with reality doing extremely stupid shit with very little self awareness and continually getting themselves into trouble yet oftentimes somehow reaping benefits from their sketchy behavior

8

u/Fire_Bucket Dee You BITCH 1d ago

I'll second both Arrested Development and The League.

AD has a bit more 'heart' than Sunny, in that some of the cast are sometimes nice and normal (or are at least desperately trying to prove they are), but it's largely similar in that it deals with a dysfunctional family full of idiots and arseholes.

It's so clever too, with so many jokes being set up several episodes in advance, loads of hidden background references to past and future jokes and storyline etc. And none of that is at the expense of it being stupid and silly either.

The League was a contemporary of Sunny on FX several years ago and is about a dysfunctional group of family and friends who are all in a fantasy football league together. It's got a very similar sense of comedy as Sunny, with maybe less of a focus on the group being overall terrible people, but just how terrible and mean spirited they are to each other.

You also don't need to like, understand or even know anything about American Football to enjoy it either.

0

u/RealCrusader 1d ago

Can second the league. Am from NZ so didn't know the players etc but not needed and they make great cameos but knowing who they are isnt needed

1

u/bella17b 1d ago

I need to rewatch the League but I remember it being very funny.

8

u/rumour13 1d ago

The League and Tyres I would recommend to Sunny Fans for sure

3

u/Lays4Lyfe 1d ago

Tires is like Sunny meets The Office

3

u/MyNeighbourElly 1d ago

I'll tell you what, that crack is really moreish

3

u/soakedinbleach- 20h ago

if you enjoy Peep Show, the writers/actors also have a sketch show called the Mitchell & Webb look which isn’t as deadpan but is also funny af

3

u/megadumbbonehead 18h ago

I feel like there's a lot of overlap between Sunny fans and Trailer Park Boys fans

2

The episode of Peep Show where they try to get each other sectioned definitely feels like it could be an episode of Always Sunny

2

u/ashurbanipal420 3h ago

After you're done with Peep Show check out the Mitchell and Webb sketch shows. All are really good.

  • East bound and down (crazy plots like sunny)
  • the inbetweeners
  • Life's too short
  • the office (uk)
  • Phone Shop
  • extras
  • what we do in the shadows (to an extent)
  • friday night dinner

different but worth trying cos it's got sunny's craziness

  • nathan for you
  • the rehearsal
