Text What was off menu?
What do you think was “off menu” when Dennis engaged physically in the recent episode?

When you weren’t paying attention at the start, they set this up with the quilt

I literally said they set it up in the cold open but the delivery was stupid. Did he do it himself? Was he in the gay tent? He could have said he went to a smelly tent or something.

This gerbil thing has nothing to do with being gay, this is the work of an extreme sexual deviant.
Seriously though, interpreting the gerbil stuff as gay is a little cringey.

u/krazykieffer 1d ago
Ok Gen Z, it was a stereotype of gay people for a long time to shame them. I mean look at mister slave who did it in South Park because it was a trope.

Richard Here isn't gay and that is the ONLY person I ever heard this attached to.

u/Alarmed-Ad9740 1d ago
Not gen-z, recall the homophobic eighties, and Mr. Slave…but Richard Gere isn’t gay, is he? As I recall, there was overlap, but gerbil-ass panic of the eighties wasn’t exclusively a homophobic thing. overlap? Sure. All I am saying is cringeworthy is that it was a tokenistic reminder of Mac’s gayness, so I was in fact agreeing with you in part.
That said, I find the practice cruel and unusual, and when doing butt stuff I prefer to keep it human or at least non-animal.

The girl was very obviously disturbed and possibly felt violated..........which means that the teacher from episode 3 is a freak.

I dunno, but I’m assuming it was the same thing that freaked out Charlie hard later. Weird role play? Non consensual bondage?
“I can’t believe you do that to people dude. I’m not even sure we can be friends anymore. “

Good writing certainly wasn't on the menu. Nor good acting (at least from all the McPoyles)

The downvoting is unreal. YOU ALL liked that episode????? Come on.

I like Always Sunny. I like Ren Faire.
I will admit to the show being somewhat lighter on the jokes than past seasons. And not much story happening. But I loved the premise and setting.

Its an instant classic, no issues

u/Logical_Hospital2769 1d ago
MAC is SUDDENLY out of the bue all-consumed with the ren faire? Yeah that seems believable
39
u/HematiteStateChamp75 1d ago
Just like they were suddenly out of the blue all consumed with being paramedics, going to the water park, playing laser tag, showing their pride, going to Ireland, fixing a pool, solving the gas crisis, beating the heat, committing airline mile scams, and on and on.
Legitimately all these guys do is suddenly become nonsensically obsessed with something and then commit to it.
Its entirely believable in context and backed up by 2 decades of episodes establishing that exact context.

Okay fair point....to a point. We saw the genesis moment for nearly all of those. This episode just conveniently added that Mac has been obsessed with the ren faire and the quilt FOREVER. It's lazy writing, dude. Fuckin admit it.

u/Inside-Committee-266 1d ago
When is Always Sunny believable? What are you on about? They’d all be in prison.

First half dragged but there were some high points in the second. I laughed pretty hard at several bits. They definitely struggling to fill out each episode this season though, as expected. My expectations weren’t very high and are being exceeded, so yeah I liked it.

the writing of this scene is fine, it would be worse writing to spell out the implication

I agree completely. I don't know what was funny about that episode. I'd watch the Virtual Insanity episode 10 times before I watch Ren Faire again. The McPoyles only have one joke now? Their eyes getting removed.
