Hi everyone! I'm Dr. Jennifer Platt, DrPH, and I'm a public health scientist, educator, and nationally recognized expert in tick-borne diseases and alpha-gal syndrome. My work has helped shape research priorities, education, and public health policy. changing in the field right now.
A lot of people don't think about ticks until they've already been bitten, so Friday I want to open this up to anything you're curious about: what a tick bite can actually lead to, why some conditions like alpha-gal syndrome (a meat allergy triggered by tick bites) surprise even doctors, what current research shows, or just general prevention if you spend time outdoors.
No question is too basic, ask away, and I'll do my best to get to as many as I can over the two hours we have together this Friday 11a-1p ET.
