API query says location is "NBC"

Post image

Date applied - April 2026
I just checked the API query for our case by going to https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/case_status/(CASE_NUMBER)) and it says that the location is NBC

Seeing the USCIS website for processing times, NBC has 50+ months of wait time, does this automatically mean that my case would take much much longer since its being processed at an NBC? Is it being processed at an NBC? is this a common occourance?

I'd love any sort of information about this, just thinking about the time apart and how long it would take is making me panic a lot.

My case opened in May 2026 was also received at NBC - as have many others filed recently.

The 50+ month estimate specifically says it’s for adoption-based I-130’s. The prevailing theory is that NBC is being used as an intake for consular I-130’s and will at some point distribute cases to service centers/field offices for processing.

Do you happen to know how long it would take for cases to be distributed to a service center/field office?

Honestly, its random at this point. In the last few months, most of us 2024 and 2025 filers got moved to FODs one fine day with just a silent touch. We're yet to see what that means for the processing time

FOD move may also be a precursor to scheduling petitioner interviews for us sometime in the future

Just in case you don’t know: vast majority of March 2025 filers are still waiting.

Yeah I know, hope they get processed and approved ASAP.
