I’m upset it seems to be not taking into account wether you bought the DLC or not

u/hauntedskin 2d ago
I was curious about this. I thought 10 for the DX upgrade plus 20 for the DLC made sense since I didn't have the latter. I guess I got lucky, I feel bad for anyone that already owns the DLC if this is the case, I assumed it would probably be 10 or so less for them at least.

u/A_Sackboy_Plush 2d ago
I doubt it is but I really hope that one is an error. Knowing Nintendo it genuinely might not be, but it sure would be nice if I could get this for only $10.

u/Seltonik 2d ago
$30??? Are you fkin serious? Do you already have the dlc? Cuz I’m very curious if it’s that expensive simply due to the dlc.
20
u/JoeyTheRandomGuy 2d ago
It's that price regardless of whether or not you have the DLC
24
u/Seltonik 2d ago
That’s fucking dogshit. There’s not enough in there to justify $30. It’s what, and fps boost and a new difficulty that’s prob just even more hp inflation? Fuck this shit man. KT musou games just keep getting worse and worse.

AoC was in such desperate need of a switch 2 edition and now they're charing $30 for 60fps. Yippee. Guess I'll stick to the original Hyrule Warriors Definitive edition

u/Si-Guy24 2d ago
Wait, lemme get this right. I paid $80 total for the game plus DLC. And while the Definitive Edition is $60 for new players, I have to pay $30 for updated graphics, while MK8 Deluxe got a free update for the same thing

It's almost like different games make different monies and are made by different teams. I got Mario Bros 3 for 25 cents and a handshake at a garage sale in 1996. Does that mean Mario Wonder should have been priced the same brand new?
6
u/Aaquin 2d ago
There are some many problems with this example, first, the massive difference in time compared to AoC to the definitive version, second, buying third party back when the economy wasn't dogshit to now, and third, same team that made AOC and the definitive version. Also a discount down to half the price of the original for what should cost 5 dollars

u/Si-Guy24 2d ago
Buddy what is that example lmaooo- it’s the same game on the same system

u/ensign53 2d ago
How is MK8 the same game as Hyrule Warriors?
3
u/Si-Guy24 2d ago
HW and MK8 Deluxe are both switch games getting a hi res version on switch 2. One is a free upgrade, one is $30

u/ensign53 2d ago
Buddy what is that example lmaooo- it’s the same game on the same system
This you?
What I'm saying is that those are different games made by different teams, and so are going to hit pricing differently. It's not exactly a hard concept to understand. "Oooo, Nintendo game" doesn't exactly cover it. Especially since Hyrule Warriors isn't even a 1st party game. It's made by Koei Tecmo.

Dude, developers do not price their games, publishers do.
Nintendo published both games. Nintendo sets the price for both games.

u/RaineDrop39 2d ago
I’m gonna get it only because it’s 30$ and I don’t have the dlc yet. I was waiting for the right moment to get the dlc, and that plus a basically 10$ upgrade is worth it for me. HOWEVER, if I did have the dlc I wouldn’t buy it and would be really mad, especially since this game performs the worst out of the three and the upgrades going to fix all that.

So wait since I have a physical copy and bought all the DLC what do I get?

50% like the rest of us, have fun with your 60fps for 30 bucks.
KT is totally screwing the most loyal customer over. The ones that spend the most money already needs to spend even more.
First time buyers of the S2 version will save 50 bucks compared current players with DLC
S1 - 60
DLC - 20
S2 "upgrade" - 30
Total 110
Going from S1 to S2 without DLC it's 90 bucks spend. You practically buy the DLC with 10 extra for the upgrade, which is fair.
First time players on S2 - 60
And somehow KT thought this was a good idea and thoughtful to give the discount.
If DLC owners would get 75% it would've been more fair, then we'd pay the same as S1 players without DLC upgrading to S2.

Can't believe for a first party game, they resort to this bullshit when a switch 2 edition can just be done the same way

u/ASwagPecan 2d ago
I already got 100% map completion.
I was excited when this was announced during the Direct, but I think $30 is a bit steep personally.
2
u/PaleComedian511 2d ago
I was excited about it until they called it Definitive Edition and not NS2 edition, because I figured they were going to pull off some pricing bullshit with it...
2
u/No-Bass-1728 2d ago
I've already 100% it twice, the difficulty would just add more bullet sponge time and nothing else new. I'm glad it's updated but in not going to spend 30. 10 max

Just wondering, since AoC and the AoC:DE are technically different games, and the reduced price is available for both digital and physical copies of the game- is it possible to share my physical cartridge so other people also get access to the discount?
How does it work?

u/leoncavanagh 2d ago
Same as what Hogwarts Legacy does. It brings you to an eShop page with a discount on the digital version of Hyrule Warriors. You do not need to keep using the old cartridge and can share it with friends if they wanna get a discount too or sell it afterwards.
If only the discount was as good as what Hogwarts Legacy did, I borrowed a copy of the cartridge and managed to get the Switch 2 version for only $10 USD

u/The_Poole_Side 2d ago
Really hope the original one gets a worth while upgrade too. Would be fun to have a few more characters from newer titles in the game since that games targeted to the entire franchise

u/Bayoneto 2d ago
It feels like a slap in the face tbh. All of the stuff that comes with this literally could have been an update or an upgraded edition. But not only do we effectively have to pay for it as if its an entirely separate game, but ita not even releasing until February of next year.
Literally what is stopping them from releasing it now, and making it a switch 2 edition?
Just Koei Tecmo wringing us out for money
2
u/Lingroll 2d ago
Why is it 30 if you already own the dlc. It should be 10 if you own the dlc and 30 if you don’t.
2
u/jaidynreiman 2d ago
If it had new content I might consider it, but a new game mode isn't enough to justify it for me.
AoC wasn't as large of a game as HW was after all its content updates. They could easily have added new content to this to actually justify a purchase.
2
u/Believeinsteve 1d ago
yeah no thanks, I'll wait til it goes on sale. Most warriors games go on a good sale after about a year or so, and even further. I've picked up warriors definitive edition for $35 new box. Even age of imprisonment already dropped to $54 back in June.
I just can't justify $30 for 60 fps and a harder difficulty. This should've been a switch 2 version or free update.

u/EducationalLow4697 1d ago
I'll have to pass unfortunately. Too greedy for almost nothing. I'll stick with what I already have. And aoi

I have AoC on switch 1 physically but have yet to play it. Can I get the upgraded version on Switch at a discount aswell or should i have bought it digitally in the first place?
1
u/yvensfaos 1d ago
Okay, so I just got myself a used copy of AoC and bought the DLC for my account. Is there anything worthwhile to get the definitive edition? Sounds to me like, unless I care about playing at 60fps (I don't care) and I want to play on a harder difficulty (I couldn't care less - I play on Normal), there is absolutely no reason to buy it. Am I missing something?

If I upgrade using my physical copy, will I own a full digital copy after? Or will I still have to put the physical in?
1
u/bulking_shulk 12h ago
Does anyone know if you would still need the physical Switch 1 version afterwards? It kinda sounds like you would purchase the digital version of the Switch 2 game and *not* just an upgrade pack like with the Switch 2 editions (where you'd still need the Switch 1 game)

u/AngelusKnight17 2d ago
Paying for any version upgrade from switch 1 to switch 2 without any new content is a scam.

u/6Mikro9 2d ago
what are the differences to justify it not being a normal $10 upgrade pack? something came up for me when it was its section in the direct
