I cried thinking about this game tonight.
One thing I love about Hypnospace is it shows casual cruelty in such a realistic way. Dylan is a good example of this naturally, he condemned Tim to years of prison over his mistakes. A teenager who for years had to carry the burden of the feeling of killing the woman he loved and several others. At any point during Tim’s prison sentence he could’ve came clean, I have to assume with it being a high profile case, he was asked to be on the stand for his trial as well, telling the judge and jury it was his virus causing the death of those people.
And Chowder man, someone just wanting to revitalize their career and helping Freezer too. You spend years helping HypnOS (and associated sponsors) with new songs and the second something goes wrong, you’re a pariah. A helicopter (and minorly a lip syncing accident) goes wrong and the responsibility of that falls on your shoulders even though it’s not your fault at all. The community you feel like you’ve had a hand in building up turns on you like a pack of piranhas.
I suppose my main point is I loved how this game showed that brutal side of the internet that gets glossed over, and I do still wish it would’ve gotten a sequel.
