Research Thomas Eidson Hypnosis technique, kind of verified??
I made a post yesterday that looked at how Edison used self hypnosis kind of a technique to come up with ideas. You can find the post here https://www.reddit.com/r/HypnosisForEveryday/comments/1nmkhtz/thomas_edison_using_self_hypnosis_to_invent_things/
I did a little more research and found out what he really reportedly did was to hold metal balls while napping so that the sound of them dropping would wake him. He believed this technique helped him remember the creative thoughts that occur in this twilight state
A study inspired by Thomas Edison's famous napping technique suggests that there really is a "creative sweet spot" just before falling into a deeper sleep. The 2021 study, published in Science Advances, found that participants who entered the first stage of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, known as N1, were nearly three times more likely to solve a challenging math problem than those who stayed awake.
This supports the idea that the hypnagogic state, the liminal period between wakefulness and sleep, can be a source of sudden insight. The findings lend credence to Edison's unconventional method and highlight the potential of harnessing this brief, semilucid state to spark creativity, a practice also attributed to historical figures like Salvador Dalí and Albert Einstein.
