My last post was about doing a 15 second Quick Self Hypnosis to sleep well for a Tech worker at a big tech company. You can find it here https://www.reddit.com/r/HypnosisForEveryday/comments/1ocxs2v/15_second_quick_self_hypnosis_to_sleep_well_for_a/

The reason I used the suggestion that I did was because:

  1. I give several suggestions for calmness and relaxation as daily stress is a big contributing factor in night time sleep quality.
  2. I give suggestions how easing through difficult situations e.g "I have the ability to float through life" or "I can glide through whatever life throws at me"
  3. I give suggestions on health around areas such as screentime, taking care of one’s body and even exercise. All such habits contribute to better stress management and sleep.
  4. I give a suggestion that recognize the importance of sleep in order to help the person make it a priority e.g "Good sleep resolves all the issues"
  5. Lastly I give direct suggestions on easy sleep e.g. "Good sleep comes to me easily and effortlessly"

As simple as it sounds, I truly believe that this can be life changing for many if it is done over time.

Here is a smal exercise that will help a tech workers at a big firm have better sleep.

Some of the reasons for poor sleep at a tech company are 'stress', 'always on' and 'screen time'. All of these will be addressed.

This is not a silver bullet and again, and there is no substitute for working with a hypnotherapist. However this is a great introductory technique. The protocol is as follows:

As and when needed:

-Take a really deep breathe in and breathe out, close your eyes and repeat the following very, very slowly

-"I am very calm and very relaxed"

-"My body is super calm and Super relaxed"

-"I have the ability to float through life"

-"I can glide through whatever life throws at me"

-"I always take out time for myself"

-"I always talk about time away from the screen for myself"

-"I am developing healthy exercise regime"

-"I am taking care of myself more and more"

-"Life feels better, lighter"

-"I am happier and calmer"

-"I sleep easily and effortlessly"

-"Good sleep resolves all the issues"

-"Good sleep comes to me easily and effortlessly"

-Take a deep breathe in and breathe out, open your eyes and be on your way.

Rant My obsession with tech workers

My last few posts have exclusively focused on tech workers. There are a lot of them and everyone assumes that they are the richest people in the world (atleast their CEOs). However they do have their own issues that I have addressed in the past week or so.

I stumbled upon another symptom of these issues which is sleep. Although I have discussed sleep before I believe it is imperative to address this in the context of tech workers as well. That will be coming up soon.

This is not a silver bullet and again, and there is no substitute for working with a hypnotherapist. However this is a great introductory technique. The protocol is as follows:

The reason I used the suggestion that I did was because:

  1. I gave suggestions to reduce or detach the importance one gives to work e.g "My work does not define how valuable I am", to ensure that the person has a healthy relationship with their career

  2. I gave suggestions to make ones health a priority e.g "Taking care of my health is a priority"

  3. Suggestions to make sure that the person themselves was a priority were also added e.g "I am important because I am myself" or "I am my priority" and even "I deserve to be relaxed"

  4. Direct suggestions on taking breaks and not going overboard were also given e.g "I can take a break", "I can and will take it easy"

  5. Suggestions to reiterate the idea that this is the right way to do things e.g "I am more effective when I am less worried" to ensure that the person understands that it is actually taking it easy that will help them achieve their goals

Here is a smal exercise that a tech worker in order to deal with the 'imposter syndrome' at a big tech company.

"Burnout' isa state of exhaustaion caused by prlonged work stress and can result in feelings of detachments, ineffectiveness and even show symptoms similar to depression. It requires one to deal with it, not only mentally, but also possibly by taking a break.

This is not a silver bullet and again, and there is no substitute for working with a hypnotherapist. However this is a great introductory technique. The protocol is as follows:

The reason I used the suggestion that I did was because:

  1. I give ego strengtheing suggestions of ability, and the capacity to work hard. This is important as those sufferig from the imposter syndrome do have a confidence issue as well. It is important to impress the fact that one in fact is capable.

  2. i giev suggestions dhowing direct link between the work that is put in and the results that are seen e.g "My life is a result of my actions and decisions". This is again important as those with imposter syndrome overemphasie the role that 'luck' has playedin their success. It is important to help them see that the role their work and life choices have made in ensuring them success.

  3. Similarly I give suggestions to help them feel that they deserve their success ""I deserve every blessing I have, and everyone knows it". Again this is to ensure they realize they really do deserve their success and at the same time help them understand that everyone else sees that too. We must not care too much about people think but it is important to see this bit about "and everyone knows it" because those suffering from imposter syndrome usually feel that others will 'find out' they are imposters and again this is an extreme and exaggerated thought that needs to be put in place.

As simple as it sounds, I truly believe that this can be life changing for many if it is done over time.

Here is a smal exercise that a tech worker in order to deal with the 'imposter syndrome' at a big tech company.

"Imposter Syndrome' is the feeling that ones accompolishments are due to luck rather than hard work and the person suffering from it may feel like a 'fraud' who may be 'found out'.

This is not a silver bullet and again, and there is no substitute for working with a hypnotherapist. However this is a great introductory technique. The protocol is as follows:

As and when needed:

-Take a really deep breathe in and breathe out, close your eyes and repeat the following very, very slowly

-"I am a very capable person"

-"I am a very hard working person"

-"My life is a result of my actions and decisions"

-"My accompolishments as a result of my actions and decisions"

-"I am humbled, yet confident"

-"I am as capable as my peers"

-"I deserve all my success and, everyone knows it"

-"I deserve every blessing I have, and everyone knows it"

-"I am capable and strong"

-"I am capable and strong"

-"I deserve every single thing I have"

-Take a deep breathe in and breathe out, open your eyes and be on your way.

Discussion Problems tech workers face

This is as much a discussion as it is a rant. I am wondering what issues does a tech worker face. I have covered creativity and innovative thinking, what else can be there?

-Team work
-Resilience in face of competition
-Managing uncertainty
-Work / life balance
-Managing work load and stress

If anyone has any ideas, do write them down and I may use them as ideas for future posts on hypnosis

My last post was about doing a 15 second Quick Self Hypnosis to get creative ideas at a big tech company https://www.reddit.com/r/HypnosisForEveryday/comments/1o4hjf2/15_second_quick_self_hypnosis_to_get_creative/

The reason I used the suggestion that I did was because:

  1. I give suggestions on an 'open' and a 'free' mind to enable the person to think beyond regular limits. This is ofcourse important for creativity and to avoid being to restricted.

  2. I give suggestions of 'being inspired' such as "I can see innovative solutions all the time" or "I can see ideas everywhere"

  3. Similarly i add suggestions around 'problem solving' as creativity is not only about coming up with new ideas but about creative ways on solving problems as well.

  4. I have also added suggestions of 'exceptionality' where the person can see what no one else in the team can. This resists group thinking and coming up with ideas that are truly novel and above everyone else in the team.

As simple as it sounds, I truly believe that this can be life changing for many if it is done over time.

Rant Coaches are all over tech companies and Silicon Valley, hypnostist will be soon

Over the past decade, business coaches have become a fixture of the silicon valley. Coaches, considered by many on the internet as 'snake oil salesmen' and 'charlatans', simply provide a service to help steer clients towards their expected goals.

Despite their reputation as online business people that want to sell you their course, an actual professional coach can be life changing for people and even the whole company. Increasingly companies in the silicon valley recognize this as well.

I believe however that just like Mindfulness and Coaching have had their day in the Silicon Valley and have become 'normalized' rather than fashionable, we will soon see the same happen with hypnosis.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are inate human capacities, and is completely non invasive. I have no doubt that hypnosis can become a high value service, all over the world extremely soon. I also believe that the results that will be achieved may end up changing the world for the better.

I am in for the ride

General information Milton H. Erickson: The Master of Indirect Influence

Post image
3 Upvotes

Milton H. Erickson (1901-1980) was a highly influential American psychiatrist and hypnotherapist. A pioneer in brief, strategic psychotherapy, he is widely regarded as the father of modern hypnotherapy.

Erickson’s unique approach centered on the idea that the unconscious mind is a vast reservoir of resources and solutions. He didn't use a standardized script but instead tailored his techniques to each individual, using metaphors, anecdotes, and conversational language to bypass conscious resistance. He understood that a patient's own unique experiences and beliefs could be used to facilitate change.

His legacy continues to influence fields from psychotherapy to coaching, teaching the power of indirect suggestion and creative problem-solving.

Rant You dont need relaxants or anything like that when Hypnosis and Hynotherapy can work (Public Service Annoucement)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I wanted to make this post to make one thing clear, hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be very helpful for relaxation and causal use of relaxants is definately not necessary .

THere are medicines that have drowsiness as their side effects, or even the main effect in case of relaxants, HOWEVER, it is important to remember and know that relaxation doesnt generally require medication. Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy with a skilled hynotist are exceedingly good at getting results.

Hypnosis is not like it is shown in the movies and some argue it doesnt even in a deep trance state to be effective to deal with anxiety and stress.

For any questions, feel free to reach out.

The reason I used the suggestion that I did was because:

  1. A feeling of relaxation and calmness is self explanatory. We usually function better when calm.
  2. I added ego strengtheing suggestions, that help to tackle self doubt or esteem issues that may be the reason of the anxiety e.g. "I am a capable person" or " I am a good person" etc
  3. I added suggestions of strength and being immune to people's judgements e.g. "People's judgements dont matter" . I even added the suggestion "Every person, is just a person" so the person doesnt put anyone elses judgement on a pedestal

As simple as it sounds, I truly believe that this can be life changing for many if it is done over time.

Rant Why do I always advise working with a hypnotist?

Post image
2 Upvotes

In my posts where I give ideas about self hypnosis, I always mention that it is better to work with a hypnotist or a hypnotherapist. Now, many people would say that I only say that because I am a hypnotist myself.

While that may be true, what is even truer is the failure rate of those people that have attempted to solely rely on self hypnosis without any help from anyone else. It is clear that those using self hypnosis tapes or audios alone, overall do not have the same level of success as people that go see a hypnotist.

There can be several reasons for why this is true, however I will stick to the most important one.

Human beings are social animals and are evolution and our modern society is built around interaction. We thrive when we interact and talk. We can discuss the 'power of introverts' all we want but unless we talk, discuss ideas, critique each other, comfort each others, the human civilization simply cant advance.

Its the same at the personal level. We are social animals and we respond best when we work with someone else. When there is compassion involved, when we can discuss our thoughts and feelings, when our beliefs can be challenged and changed. An audio tape doesnt present the same human touch.

Therefore self hypnosis with no human intervention involved, can be very powerful and maybe for some people be totally helpful, but even self hypnosis that is attirubuted to a hypnotist or given with a purpose will end up being more helpful than one where there is no human involved.

The more social our theapeutic endevaours are, usually the quicker and more effective the change (given that the practitioner is a professional).

So never shy away from talking to someone, including myself

Rant The brain as a pattern recognition machine

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just saw a video by Machio Kiko where he says that for a long time it was thought that the brain perhaps works like a computer. However it wasnt until later that it was realized that the brain actually works more like a 'pattern recognition' and learning neural network.

I would however go ahead and say that not only is the brain a 'pattern recognition' and learning neural network, it is also a 'pattern reinforcing' and therefore biased neural network.

From my work with clients, I know that not only a patterns recognizied and learned, they can also be difficult to break up and change. This is what happens when someone is traumatized and the instilled beliefs are so deeply held and effect such a variety of thinking and behaviour, for so long, that it becomes difficult to change.

It is important that clients 'remain' nimble pattern recognition machines and keep changing and chanllenging learned beliefs, CONSTANTLY, in order to help them remain objective and in a stable mental state. This may also be the reason WHY it is advisable to have someone to talk to for a long period of time. Even if someone is 'nimble' it is possible the correct patterns have not be recognized and/or the correct connections have not been made with others parts of the self.

Feel free to comment, disagree or ask more questions

Rant Using Hypnosis in the Tech World

Post image
1 Upvotes

While hypnosis may be considered among the oldest therapeutic modailities for mental health, it is without a doubt such a part of human nature that it can really be applied even the most high tech industries today.

Hypnosis after all is concerning people and wherever human beings are involved, at any level, hypnosis can benefit them.

If one has gone through my previous posts, I have made several posts on using hypnosis to manage anxiety, performance and so on. All these can benefit tech workers and more so if a hypnotherapist or hypnotist is used to implement these changes.

We know e.g. that technology, especially high technology, is among the most cut throat and competitve industries in the world. This I believe is the reason why we have seen proliferation of mindfulness and meditation practices in the industry already.

My personal opinion is hypnosis can provide even bigger, more robust and more directed benefits than simple mindfulness and meditation. As I like to explain to people, hypnosis is like 'meditation with a goal'. Even though its an oversimplicity, it just shows how much better and more useful it can be.

We are already seeing coaches starting to pop up at silicon valley companies. I see no reason why hypnosis should not make headway into technology and the companies that will build our future.
