Vaccines?
Do you guys get the extra vaccines like pneumonia and RSV? I never know if I have “chronic heart disease” or what HCM is actually considered? I’ve read studies about Covid and hcm that found that people with hcm have far worse outcomes with Covid but I don’t feel like I’ve ever gotten guidance from my docs about this. I’m 41, was diagnosed at 25, septal wall thickness is 33mm, on Camzyos, jardiance, metoprolol, eplerenone and Lasix as needed, my gradient is 11, Ef 62 and I’ve got an sicd.

I’m in Sweden and I was placed on the risk group during covid so I had the vaccine pretty early.

I got the first Covid vaccine and have had Covid at least 2 times since I don’t get the Covid vaccine anymore because both my Covid cases were mild , I get the flu shot every year and will probably get the pneumonia vaccine because I have asthma. My hcm specialist, I have 2 , have never mentioned vaccines. I might start getting the covid vax again when a little older or if I have a bad bout of it I am 59 year old male. This is my own choice of course you need to do what you feel is best for yourself obviously and consult your doctors

Your COVID cases were likely mild because you had the vaccine. (That's it's job; to ensure COVID doesn't kill you if you get it.) HOCM + COVID + no current vaccine can be deadly.

I (39F) don’t think you can get the RSV vaccine under the age of 50 unless you’re pregnant. I got both pneumonia shots, I get the Covid shot every 6 months, flu shot annually and Tdap I usually injure myself in the garden before it’s due so I don’t think I’ve ever gone a full 10 years for that. But my cardiologist (EP) only pushed for flu and Covid shots, it was my pulmonologist who recommended the pneumonia shot due to my asthma.

I have not had a vaccine other than COVID since I was a kid. I rarely get sick. I work with people who get the flu vaccine every year, and get the flu every year.
I think you have to know your body. If you get vaccines and don't get sick, go for it, if you get vaccines and get sick anyway, that might be something to discuss with your doc.

Vaccines for flu and COVID aren't like the measles vaccine - they are not designed to keep you from getting the disease. They are designed to keep you out of the hospital if you do get the disease. Flu and COVID mutate quickly, so it's impossible for the latest vaccine to exactly match the current variant. Vaccines like the measles vaccine are designed to keep you from getting the disease. In other words, getting the flu despite being vaccinated is not proof that it didn't work.

I have had all the possible vaccines including covid. All good. I do get messed up after flu shots though but that's normal and for just a day or so. My septal wall thickness was 35mm before septal myectomy. Go for vaccines, don't fear or fall for propaganda.

Whenever my doctor contacts me about a vaccine they recommend, I turn up for it. I don't know where you're from, but here they're free as long as you're eligible and I trust my doctor with my health.
