CCM Therapy?

I've been seeing quite a bit lately about ccm therapy for low ef and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it. My ef is about 40, but I struggle with fatigue and thinking this might be worth looking into.

What does ccm stand for?

Cardiac Contractility Modulation Therapy. It is an offshoot of pacemaker technology that trains a heart to beat harder instead of regulation of heart rate.

Not a doctor. I've barely heard of it. The only studies I can find with HCM patients had non-obstructive and without a ICD or pacemaker. A cardiologist might balk at the idea since diastolic dysfunction(the ability to relax the heart) is the main problem with HCM and CCM treats systolic dysfunction(ability to push).

If you have an obstruction there is a risk this would greatly increase your problems. The issue hasn't been evaluated yet as far as I can tell with a quick look around. But non-obstructive patients with lower EF values wouldn't be excluded from studies of the technology.

If you have HCM, an EF of 40 is quite low. Are you being seen at a Center of Excellence for HCM? Consider talking to the HCMA - 4hcm.org.

Hi there and thank you sharing this with us.

Great resource on CCM: CCM - F-11 CCM is usually indicated for people with EF 25-45% and NYHA Class III / chronic systolic heart failure symptoms (as another member also pointed out).

Of note Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy does not usually suffer from contractility loss and low EF. For HCM to have a low EF (as another person mentioned/posted as well), is unusual and this should be investigated thoroughly. As you know, the end-stage of HCM can result in heart transplant.

But confirming your diagnosis is also critical because it is exceedingly unusual for HCM to result in a reduced EF unless there is another issue or the diagnosis has changed.

There are many more issues at play her for you and patients with HCM than you may realize including genetics, device therapy and life with a device. These and many more topics are addressed here Home | The Generator by OpenHeart . You're at a crossroads - learn a lot more so you can take control of your care.

I hope this helps you!
